The Man behind the talent... the past, present and future

Matthew Lyn Lillard

From simple extra, to a host on a popular kids' TV network, young and aspiring 20 year old Matthew Lynn took every tiny steps toward his future goal in life and become an actor. Now slowly building his name by starring in such critically acclaimed movies like 'Scream' and 'S.L.C. Punk!' Matthew Lillard has geared and buckled-up himself onto the Hollywood roller-coaster ride of success.

Born in Lansing, Michigan on the 24th of January 1970 as Matthew Lyn Lillard, this soon-to-be actor had to transfer to different hometowns a few times in his life. In Tustin, California -- where he starts and finishes high school -- Matthew's pursuits into acting were made more a reality. After concluding his secondary education, he was lucky enough to be cast as an extra for the movies Ghoulies 3 and after which, he was whisked away into hosting a show called SK8 TV. During this time, Matthew still pursued his love for acting and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California and eventually went to New York and attended a theatre school called Circle in the Square. It was probably this huge amount of theatre work that conceived the idea for establishing theatre companies such as Mean Street Ensemble (until 1991) and Summoners Theatre Company.

Soon after plenty of auditioning, a string of movies finally came to be for Matthew. From Serial Mom, to Mad Love and then Hackers, step by step young Matthew Lynn -- as he was credited then -- was finally climbing up the towering Hollywood ladder. Of course it wasn't 'til recently with Scream, She's All That and S.L.C. Punk! that Matt made a scene with the public.

Off-beat and quite unique characters have always been Matthew?rademark, yet it's really been through his major talent that these characters were brought to life. Let's just say that these corky characters wouldn't have been that way without Matthew's sheer hard work. Nonetheless someday all of these will be but a fossil of good memories for Matthew and his fans for in the future, this amazing actor will shine with the likes of other major movie stars, placing him up along the glitz and glamour of the humungous Hollywood stage.

Did you know that...

- he was only introduced to the hatchling world wide web when he was researching on his role in Hackers?

- his favorite RPG is Baldur's Gate?

- he swears Freddie Prinze, Jr. is the greatest gamer alive?

- he agreed to work as a voice talent for the upcoming game Sled Storm? (In exchange he got a lifetime worth of free games from Electronic Arts)

- he has played the same Dungeons and Dragons character for the past 11 years -- a seventh-level Ranger named Chagal Ashley?

- he loves to listen to the Notorious B.I.G. and Wu Tang Clan?

- his first kiss was in seventh grade during a game of 'Spin the Bottle'?

- he's married and privacy is very important for him and his wife?

- he suffered from headaches which turned out to be a life-threatening situation? (Doctors found out that Matt had spinal-cord fluid leaking into his brain. After correcting it, he returned to work.)

- he and two of his acting coaches from high school locked themselves up in a dance studio in order to create the perfect Shaggy impersonation?

- he adlibbed the line, "Houston we have a problem..." in the movie Scream? (This was toward the end of the movie when they were stabbing themselves with a knife.)

- he was chubby during high school? (This was one main reason why he went into acting, so that he wouldn't shudder to the pressures of high school.)

- he did a Michael Jackson impersonation -- lip-sync, crotch grabbing, humping and all -- during a talent show? (The school principal eventually kicked him out of the school stage for being too obscene.)

- he has all ready starred with Freddie Prinze, Jr. four times and are real life friends? (It'll be a whopping five times, in year 2004, as they prepare for the next installment of Scooby-Doo -- roughly entitled Scooby Too.)
