Im sitting here, looking at the clock
Time ticks away, it never knows when to stop
Just when I need it to stop, it goes by even faster
Im spending this eve alone, without you; guess I didn't matter!

I hear the fireworks bursting way up in the sky
Tears spill down my cheeks even though I tried not to cry
The ball has dropped, someone had said.
My heart felt so heavy, filled with such dread.

Stubbornness won, it was stronger than your love
I guess the Good Lord, gave me an answer from above
Oh how I prayed for this never to take place
I gave you my heart, you threw it back in my face

I guess the Almighty knows what's best
I proved I loved you, test after test
Tea grows cold as its left in the cup
So many promise's, few backed up

What I asked for, was not to much
You are always to busy with others and such
My love for you is honest and true
But time after time Im left feeling blue

Its now a time to say good-bye
I gave you my best and really tried
They all warned that you'd play me a fool
Never once placed on that pedestal
