He Did Arise

In the beginning a virgin carried him in her womb
She knew the child inside her was very special
When she gave birth, she wrapped him in swaddling
Then he was laid in a manger
People came from near and far, rich and poor
But the God child knew nary a stranger

As he grew into a man, he set out to teach his fathers plan
He astounded multitudes, He healed the sick and raised the dead.
He gathered his disciples, teaching them all he could
Faith and Love was what they needed for all mankind
Never serve a man, but serve Our Father, he would preach

A man heard of this and wanted him dead
Formed an army to bring him his head
A man whose heart was full of greed,
Didn't want him teaching these good deeds

They hunted him down, and brought him to the king
They slandered him for what he taught
Mocked his name and the word
And he warned he would return

But they gave him a crown, one of thorns for his head
Nailed his feet and hands, then stood and watched as he bled
Called him a liar and nailed him to a cross,
He did this for you and I, So we all would not be lost

And As he hung there, he looked out over the crowd
Giving his life so we could gain forgiveness for our sins
He knew only of his Father's Plans
He gave his life so that we could see, trust in God, and be set free!

After he took his last great breath, they wrapped him and sealed him in a tomb
They rolled that mighty rock to seal it closed, but as he had promised, he soon arose,
So on this special day, let us all give thanks, let us all pray
For a better tomorrow, With Angels descending from Heaven

Happy Easter Jesus.... Thank you for dying for me and all
Thank you for your great teaching, And for loving so unconditionally
Thank you for understanding our sin as humans
Guide us Jesus as you will.... Amen

Author's Note:

My Favorite gospel song is "When He Was On The Cross",
I think I like it because it reminds me that Im born into sin and that
by him giving his life, my sins will be forgiven, for that im grateful!

Here are the words

Now Im not on some ego trip, Im nothing on my own
I make mistakes, I often slip
Just common flesh and bones
But I will prove someday, just what I say, "Im of a special kind",

For when He was on the cross that day, well I was on His mind

For he knew me, Yet he loved me
He whose glory makes the Heavens shine
Im so unworthy, of such mercy

But when He was on the cross that day, Well I was on His mind

The proof of Love was on His face, thorns were on His head,
Blood was on His scarlet robe, stained a crimson red
Though His eyes were on the crowd that day
He looked ahead in time

For when He was on the cross that day, Well I was His mind

For He knew me, Yet He loved me
He whose glory makes the Heavens shine
Im so unworthy, of such mercy

But Thank God, when He was on the cross that day, Well I was on His mind
