Land's End
1. Use the cannons!
This may be tricky...you first need to jump in it by jumping on top and pressing "B". Next, notice how it moves...back and forth, plus it makes a "ding" sound when it hits its farthest point. Time your release, and press "Y" JUST before you hear the ding.
2. Go up the long way...
On the 4th screen, the one with the spinning flowers, you need to get up the cliffs. To do this, just jump on the flowers, and press "B" when you seem to be aligned with where you want to go.
3. Sky Bridge...not for the faint at heart
After you've scaled the cliff, you'll fall and this guy will tell you about the sky bridge. You DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS!!! It is a good way to make coins, but that's about it. To cross WITHOUT paying, just tell him "NO" when he asks if you want to cross.
4. Talk to the rat
After you've gone past the sky bridge, you'll see a rat on the sandy path. Tell him that you're headed to Monstro Town and he'll tell you how to get there.
5. Jump into the ant's whirlpool...
After you've talked to the rat, you'll find that you need to find the whirlpools with the ants in them. Just either go straight ahead or turn upward (your choice, really), and aim for the whirlpools with the ant inside. However, the ant WILL POP up and fight you the first time you enter the whirlpools. Also, be careful as you're nearing the end of these to pay attention, because the ant will "switch" from whirlpool to whirlpool.
Underground/Belome Temple
1. Run the gauntlet with the invinsible star!
The first treasure box you find in the underground is an invincible star! Just run through here, as you'll get a lot of experience and shave a LOT of time off your game.
2. Get your fortune told!
WAY, WAAAY after you've entered the underground and have gone into Belome Temple, you'll find a place where you can have your fortune told. It costs 50 coins, and you can hit the faces in any order that you want. Here's the order and what you'll receive:
1-2-3: Get a Yoshi Cookie or mushroom
1-3-2: Yoshi Cookie
2-1-3: Beat 3 enemies
2-3-1: Beat 3 chows or a shy away
3-1-2: Get 100 coins or frog coin
3-2-1: 100 coins
In each of these, you'll get a separate fortune which determines if you'll fight Belome or not. If you get the fortune "Mmm, I'm so hungry! Wish I had something to eat!", then you'll fight Belome, and go to Monstro Town. If you get "Sorry, I'm not accepting visitors past my bedtime.", then you'll go to the treasure room, which you'll need the temple key in Monstro Town for. Don't worry if you get the fortune you don't want; just keep on exiting and entering the room until you get your desired fortune.
Monstro Town
1. Go to Monstermama's house
The first door you see as you get into Monstro Town is Monstermama's house, which you should enter first. Go upstairs and talk to the star...then go back downstairs and talk to Monstermama. She'll introduce you to Sgt. Flutter and his troopas. You need to get to Bean Valley, and he'll help you.
2. Go to goomba's item shop!
Before you leave, you need to go to the 4th door, which is Goomba's item shop. You can get a better weapon for Bowser here, as well as mid mushrooms, maple syrups, and the like.
3. Don't forget the Temple Key!
Remeber the key I told you about earlier? It's the key up on the ledge! Since Mario can't jump that far up, you'll need to go inside the 2nd door (right beside Monstermama's house) and talk to the thwomp-- 7 times. After you exit, you'll find the key lying on the floor. Now you can go back up to Belome Temple. Just jump on the springboard that's left of Monstermama's house.
Underground/Belome Temple
1. Time to get the treasures!
Remember earlier when I told you about the second fortune ("Sorry, I'm not accepting visitors past my bedtime.")? Now, with the Temple Key in hand, you can claim the prize! Get your fortune here (you don't need it told again.), give the key to Belome, and you can get 9 frog coins, 4 flowers, a max mushroom, a royal syrup, and a fire bomb!
2. 100 coins= the short way up
Just before the room where you get your fortune told, there's a man standing on a warp trampoline. Talk to him, and give him 100 coins (if you have it, hopefully), and you're back up to the top!! If you don't have the 100 coins, just continue to follow the path; you'll EVENTUALLY get to the top.
Land's End
1. Go right, scale the cliff
After you get back up from the depths below, DON'T enter the whirlpools. Go to the top-right passageway instead. You'll find that Sgt. Flutter and his troops are ready for you. If you don't want to waste any time, then just walk from shell to shell, when the turtle you're on gets next to the next one in line. It'll take about 20 seconds, which means you won't get any frog coins or a troopa pin, but this is the surest way to do it.
Bean Valley
1. Right, left, and out!
If you don't want to waste your time getting treasures, and just want to get out of the mini-pipe maze, then first head for the pipe on the right. After you've gone down it and have come up to a new screen, go down the left one. After you've gotten out of there, just go out the passageway.
2. Screen with five pipes
After the mini-maze, you'll find five pipes. Three contain a kind of treasure roulette, where you hit the treasure box, and it pulls up three slots, each with three symbols. Here's what happens if you get the following combinations:
2 or 3
mushrooms: Get the HP and FP restoring mushroom
2 or 3 flowers: Get a Flower, which adds 1 to your FP
2 or 3 stars: get A ROCK CANDY!
Mushroom, Flower, and Star: fight a chest monster (hard, but
gives you 100 coins!)
The other two pipes, the very top one (nearest to the save point) and the very bottom one (nearest to the exit back to the pipe) are special. The top one contains an entrance to the casino...in which you need A BRIGHT CARD. If you have one (see my item guide), then go to the corner where the golden chomp is and jump 3 times. You'll hear a ringing tone, and then it will open a passageway. If you exit, however, you'll have to start the stage again.
The bottom-most pipe has 2 trampolines! If you go through the top one, you'll get a treasure!
3. Whack Smilax, get the seed
Go to the screen after the 5 pipes. You'll see a pirhana plant. Jump on it, and you'll go into battle! After you've beaten him, pick up the seed that Shy Away left behind.
4. Hit the brick, climb the vine!
What's this? A brick just floating in the air! Hit it from below, and you'll see a vine. Hit the block again, and you'll climb it!
Vines/Nimbus Land
1. This is...hard!
I KNOW you'll have difficulty with these vines. You jump from the top left to the bottom right...which is hard. You'll just have to figure it out for yourself.
2. Left for items, right for easy way out
When you come to the 3rd screen, you'll notice 2 sets of vines. The green one on the right will take you to the easier way up to tNimbus Land. The red one on the left is a little difficult to reach (jump from the top right corner of the blue vine to the bottom left of the yellow vine) but it's worth it. This will take you to a bunch of treasures, AND get you into Nimbus Land!
3. Here's Valentina!
After you've gotten into Nimbus Land, you'll see Valentina talking to the townspeople. She tells them that the King is very ill, and that she's found Prince Mallow. It ends up being her fat bird, Dodo. She then basically pronounces herself as queen...something doesn't smell right...
4. Go to the item shop
Next, you'll need to go to the closest building to you on your left...it's about in the center of the screen. This item shop will sell you the new weapons and new armor...they are very pricey though, so you'll need about 700-900 coins.
5. Talk to Garro
Your next stop is the building in the TOP-LEFT corner, next to the little passageway. Don't talk to the sculptor just yet...go to the golden statue of Mallow. It turns out to be a statue of young King Nimbus...which makes MALLOW THE LOST PRINCE!! Garro will then tell you he's thought of an idea to get into the palace...just talk to him again, let him paint you like a statue, and watch the sequence that unfolds.
6. Avoid Dodo's pecking...get the feather!
You will eventually be placed by Dodo in a room with the other Valentina statue that Garro delivered. Get off the place he put you, and exit the room. In the room with the save point, open the door. You'll hear Valentina giving Dodo an order to polish the statues...which sends Mario running back to his place. Next, you'll see Dodo coming in...and he starts pecking the statues. Jump up to avoid getting pecked by him. However, you must jump up when the helmet he's wearing is over his eyes...otherwise, he'll see you. If he sees you or pecks you 3 times, then you have to fight him. If you can avoid him, then you'll get the feather.
7. Go through the doors, then go left.
You'll notice many passages in this palace which are probably confusing. When you get into the room past the save point, go through the door...don't try anything else unless you feel like picking up extra experience or treasures. Then, once you've gone through that corridor and come to the place with 3 passageways, go to the one on the left. Follow the path down to where the Nimbus Castle workers are imprisoned. Talk around...you can get a Flower Jar, and the very important Castle Key 1. MAKE SURE TO TALK TO EVERYONE, though.
8. Beat Heavy Troopa, go through the Center door.
Once you get back to the place with three passages, go fight the Heavy Troopa guarding the center door. Beat him, use the key you got from the guard, and go on to the next room.
9. Talk to the egg, get Castle Key 2.
Next, in the room, you'll meet the big egg. Talk to him, and answer "yes" to his question. Once you beat him, then he'll give you Castle Key 2. You CAN do like the person says and use the defense mode to block off the single egg (Eggbert) that he spits out. He'll get damaged somewhat, but, then again, so will you. You don't HAVE to do this, and I certainly DON'T reccommend it.
10. Read the sign, listen in on Valentina...
In the next room, you'll find a room with a sign beside it. Read the sign, and watch Bowser attempt to knock the door down. Mallow stops him, and then the shy away enters the room shouting "Queen Valentina." Give chase, and beat the 3 Heavy Troopas. After you've accomplished that, then you're ready to eavesdrop on Valentina. You'll then chase her until you fall off the ledge, and to where the hot springs are. Hop back up on the trampoline, and get back into Nimbus Land.
11. Fight Valentina...
But first, you'll actually fight Dodo. He'll take your center character and go to a seperate battlefield. It might be hard, but I RECCOMMEND USING GENO as your center character because he seems to be the best (don't know why, either.) After you beat Dodo, you'll begin to fight Valentina. Then Dodo and the center character will return, and you'll be FIGHTING DODO AND VALENTINA!! You should attack Dodo, or use bombs to kill both of these characters.
12. Get the key, meet Mallow's Parents!
After you beat Valentina, she'll drop a key. Mallow will use it to open the locked door, and will finally meet his parents. They tell you to go to Barrel Volcano, where the 6th star is located.
Barrel Volcano-
1. Follow the arrows, meet BIG enemies!
It's fairly easy and self-explanitory to get through Barrel Volcano. Just follow the arrows, and look around for them. Sometimes you'll have to find the passage on your own, but there's generally only one way to go forward, so that makes it easier. You will also encounter several large enemies (stumpet and corkepedite) who aren't very easy to kill...HOWEVER, the Geno Whirl timed hit WILL work, killing them in one shot. Also remember that if you hit the lava, you'll be taken back to the beginning of that screen (NOT THE STAGE!!)
2. Hinopo's Shop
There are three counters, each has an importance. First, you need to go to the center one...it's the inn. Rest for 30 coins, then go to the end counters and get the latest armor and more items. Use the save point, and you're ready to move on.
3. Jump carefully, fight Czar Dragon!
You will need to jump very carefully in the next room. There are doughnut lifts, which will fall after a certain time. There are also enemies to worry about, who will almost ALWAYS knock you into the lava, and make you restart your jump. After you've crossed the bridge, you're ready to fight Czar Dragon. I think you should have Mallow on your team because of his "snowy" attack, which absolutely KILLS the firey Czar Dragon...of course, then you have to fight Zombone after you've wasted Czar Dragon. Bowser works best on him due to his magics. Also, if you have some pure waters, USE 'EM ALL on ZOMBONE!! It'll dish out 130 DAMAGE!
4. Get the
star, lose it.-
As soon as you find the star, and pick it up, it will be stolen. The thieves will identify themselves as the Axem Rangers. You'll then chase them, all the way to the top of the volcano!
5. Fight the
Axem Rangers-
Now it's time to fight the Axem Rangers. Attack the Pink one first, due to her mushroom attack known as "Petal Blast". Also, MAKE SURE THAT ONE OF YOUR PARTY MEMBERS HAS THE TRUEFORM PIN OR THE SAFETY RING!! Then attack the green one, then the yellow, then black, and lastly kill the red one. You'll find yourself finally fighting the whole team, whose only attack is the EXTREMELY DAMAGING breaker beam. I suggest having Princess in your team for this one due to the MASSIVE energy you will lose. Once you've beaten them, YOU'LL HAVE THE 6th STAR AT LONG LAST!!
