= 610 Series
Datsun 180B Sedan front quarter
This was known as Bluebird U in Japan and 610 in the US. It
replaced the 1600 but the latter's body continued in
production to ultimately be replaced with the Violet/140J/160J
models.

Datsun 180B SSS Coupe front design
The SSS model (coupe only?) had a special engine but both it and the sedan's
were enlarged versions of the 1600 cc engine of its predecessor. The
independant rear suspension was also a continuation of the previous model's
design.
Datsun 180B SSS Coupe rear
This is my friend's car. The bumpers and taillights surrounds were originally
chromed.
Datsun 180B SSS Coupe front quarter
This is the 1973 model, note simple grille and indicators in bumpers with
repeaters in the guards.

badge.
Datsun 180B SSS Coupe profile
Supposedly the coupe was styled first, the sedan then adapted from it (often
it was the other way around). This style of daylight opening was christened
"the J line" by Datsun stylists.
The J line was also used for Violet/140J/160J hardtop
coupe models but the 180B is possibly the best interpretation of it.
Datsun 180B Sedan front design
This was Australian assembled sedan (series 2, identifiable by large amber
front turn indicators) with an enlarged (to 1.8 litres) four cylinder engine
based on that of the 1600 model.
Datsun 180B Sedan rear
Yes, water leakage around the rear window was not uncommon! Hence the masking
tape applied liberally but neatly here.

Chrome tabs on top of front fenders cover the holes where the wing-mounted
mirrors were fitted on Japanese market cars!

Datsun 180B SSS coupe front design
This was an imported Datsun 180B SSS hardtop coupe (series 2) with a specially
tuned 1.8 litre four cylinder engine.
Datsun 180B wagon rear quarter
No, this paint job was not standard! Pretty funky though!
Datsun 180B wagon profile
The wagon was a late addition to the range, only available after the
facelifted model arrived.
Nissan had not imported the 1600 wagon but this
model sold well enough to ultimately persuade Australia to build the Pintara
1/Skyline 3 range wagon!
