This page is to honor my favorite sports team at ISU for another great season. To read more about them go to their official home page at Volleyball at Illinois State University.

Well I was trying to think of what I should do or say to honor and show my appreciation to this team. And then it popped into my head to give them some sort of awards!! Ya thats it their own awards!! So I now present:
The Matty's
(Kind of like the Grammy's but
not quite)

Disclamer1: Even if a certain
player didn't get an award that doesn't mean I didn't like them or
they were not as good as the others. All of the team was great and I
applaude you all.
Disclamer2: These awards were voted on by...well, mostly me with
some input from my friends, but all final say was by me and no one
else. :-)
And now the awards...
Favorite Player: All though I adopted more of the whole team as my
favorite this year, I still have to give this award to the player
that was my favorite last year because of the way she came in as a
freshman and kicked butt with her kills and blocks.
The award of favorite player goes to...
Kendra Haselhorst The next award is for favorite
newcomer. This award is for, as it says, my favorite new player on
this years team. This player came in and gave the Redbirds yet
another blocker and hitter when needed and complimented Kendra
wonderfully. The winner of favorite Newcomer
belongs to...Jenny Kabbes
This award is one that I did seek
help from others on. It is the award for cutest player. There were
a few players that could have gotten this award, but the majority
agreed on the winner... The athlete who wins
cutest player, who also has hardest last name on the team,
Katie Pignatiello
.
The next award is for most
intensity. As soon as this person stepped onto the court you could
see the intensity in her eyes. With every point and every kill
fists pumped and her face showed confidence and excitement.
The winner of the award for most intensity
is...Nikki McCleary
The next award I call the
"Cool Killer" award. This award is given to the player who was
usually very calm on the court but always got the job done. This
player was again a major contributor to this years team and was among
the leaders, if not the leader for kills on the team. The award for "Cool Killer" goes to...
Michelle Kutcher
The final award I am giving out
for now is the M.V.P. This was probably the hardest for me to make
a choice on. This years team was extremely balanced and the whole
team was in the running for this award. But I felt this player was
the nucleus of the team. She brought everything together and kept
things running smoothly. The winner of the award
for M.V.P. goes to...Marisa Brickley
Well there you have it. That is
all for this addition of the Matty's. Again I want to congratulate
the whole team on a great season and wish them continued success in
future years.
