Collectors come in all shapes
and sizes as demonstrated by Peaches shown
here with her collection. Her owner states that Peaches thinks of the
Attics as her children and won't let anyone near them. Thank you Jean for
sharing.
5-27-00 Once
again Ty listens to us :-) Kari let us
know that Ty has now changed the retired list to include both Jack and Mackenzie
so there is no longer any speculation as to their status. Both of these
guys will prove to be quite desirable!

Despite what it says on the
official Ty site, Lulu assures us that
Mackenzie has not been seen at Canadian retailers since last Summer. This
leaves 11 current Attics and Jack who has yet to be even acknowledged by Ty as
existing. My guess is that we won't be seeing him anymore either. It
will be interesting to see what affect this retirement has on the hundreds of
"shelf-sitters" in shops everywhere. We'll keep you informed.

It's a MASSIVE Attic
retirement...Ty, Inc retires a whopping 31
styles tonight. It's bye bye to Pouncer, Purrcy, Cody, Brisbane, Katrina,
Azure, Salty, Breezy, Fairbanks, Rafaella, Susannah, Rosalie, Piccadilly,
Radcliffe, Cawley, Eve, Georgette, Ramsey, Georgia, Cheri, Waddlesworth,
Bearkheardt, Beargundy, Orion, Gwyndolyn, Samuel, Tyrone, Isabella, Heartley,
Malcolm, and William. This leaves only the latest round of introductees
still current unless you count Mackenzie and Jack and who the heck knows what's
up with those two ;-) Tell us your thoughts on the Reader's
Corner Page.

Maison D'Ours is
changing! After a year and a half of
devoting this web-site to Attic Treasures, Mary Catherine and I have decided to
take the site on to further avenues. While the Attic Treasure information
will continue to be provided, we are working on presenting a forum for up and
coming Teddy Bear Artists to share their work and tips on Teddy Bear
Making. Watch for the changes to be forthcoming over the next several
weeks! If you have ideas for the site or if you are a closet Teddy Bear
maker, it's time to come out and make yourself known to us. Contact me at artemis@mindspring.com
with your info.

The annual Hug-In in Toronto
was a rousing success. Mary Catherine
and I were privileged to attend the Teddy Bear Hug-In 2000 on May 7th in
Toronto. This particular annual event is put together by Ruth Fraser, one
of the original designers of Attic Treasures. The event showcased many of
Ontario's top Teddy Bear artists.
After studying each and every bear
at the show, I made the decision to bring home this adorable 6 inch tall
creation of Margo Pihura made from sable fur.
I haven't named him yet, so if you have any suggestions, please let
me know.
Ruth gifted me with this adorable Julie bear
that I fell in love with last year in Baltimore. She's a
petite 3 inches tall and was thrilled to be reunited with the Heather, the Ruth
Fraser original I purchased last year.
At her home, Ruth posed with her childhood friend, Peter, who she has had since
she was a toddler.
The photo she is holding is her at three years of age still holding Peter.
We got to meet Nola Hart, Ruth's charming daughter and, of course, a famous bear
artist in her own right, and Nola's three daughters. Together with her
husband Lloyd, the Frasers are a heartwarming couple it is my honor to have met
and gotten to know. Thanks Ruth for a wonderful weekend! We look
forward to going again next year.

Collector Waldine reports
more naked Attics. Over the past few
months, we've reported finds of Samuel, Eve, Tyrone, and other larger Attics
with ribbons instead of their more common clothes. Today, we heard that in
addition to the larger Attics, some of the smaller ones are also appearing on
the shelves "au naturelle". Add to this list, Rosalie,
Gwendolyn, Fairbanks, and Bearkhardt. Let us know if you find others.

Perhaps Ty is actually
listening to us! It's another Attic
Retirement. Join us as we say a fond farewell to one of the most enduring
of the Attic Treasures.....
Checkers,
the panda, and the more recently introduced Lawrence the camel
.
Both of these will be sorely missed.
