bear11.gif (261 bytes) 10-24-00    Beverly bites the dust as Maison D'Ours prepares to make a change in format.   As most of you already have heard, we are dropping the Attic Treasures format in order to focus on Teddy Bear artist's creations and information on making bears and collecting bears of all kinds.  This site will be backed up pretty much in its entirety on a new server.  There will be a link to it from the main  page of the new site when we get everything ready.  Thanks so much for all of your support for our decision to move forward.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 10-20-00     It's another Attic retirement... Today we bid a fond farewell to Marigold, Armstrong, and Scarlet.  marigold.jpg (66545 bytes)   armstrong.jpg (72253 bytes)  scarlet.jpg (51790 bytes) and three more non-jointed styles bite the dust.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 10-15-00   Poor little North has been sitting patiently waiting for his photos, but I just got too busy to get them up, so here, better late than never, are the pictures of North.  north3.jpg (145672 bytes) and his tag...northtag.jpg (67496 bytes).  I still think Ty Warner used my cat to make this pattern.  The stomach is exactly the same.  I'll have to get a good pic of her rotundness for you to compare.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 9-29-00   Lulu reports on important information for Canadian sellers concerning US money orders.  Don't miss this vital information.  Read about it on The Canadian Connection.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 9-22-00   Despite the heavy rains...the first of the new Attics showed up for their photo session.  I was somewhat disappointed in Merwyn and Alfalfa, but Klause is lovely and very well done.  So, without further ado, here are the first of the Fall Attics: Alfalfa alfalfa.jpg (222149 bytes) Klause klause.jpg (103121 bytes)    Merwyn merwyn.jpg (106283 bytes) and Birch birch.jpg (135563 bytes).  I didn't think you really wanted to see another picture of Greyson...  Thanks so much Helen for getting these little guys safely to their new home and congratulations on the new job!

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 9-21-00   Ty has now added links to old newsflashes. Check out http://www.ty.com/newsflash_archives.html to see last month's news.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 9-19-00    The new Attics have hit stores across the country.  So far, we have reports of Greyson, Birch, Alfalfa, Merwyn, and Klause out there.  Thanks to Helen, mine are on their way and eager to report for their photo session.  Congratulations Ty for getting the newbies to the shelves promptly this time.  Now, let's retire Greyson ;-)

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 9-9-00     For those who missed the 2nd Annual Collectibles Convention which was held recently in Scottsdale, you still have a chance to grab some great signed collectibles, original artist designs (one of mine is up for bids - wink wink ), and much more!  Go to Ebay and do a search for items by seller collectiblesconvention  and check out what's there!  Remember that all proceeds go to the GOOD BEARS OF THE WORLD charity, so bid early and bid HIGH.  For a few more Dutch auctions, check under the user ID drmar , the convention chair.  Not all of Maralou's auctions go towards the charity, so if your intent is a donation, be sure to check the item description so there are no questions.   If an old Woolie Brown can sell for over $7000 in a personal auction, we should be able to raise more than that in a charity auction!  Have fun!!!

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 9-8-00    Attic history was made today when Woolie Brown closed on Ty Trade with 62 bids for a whopping $7,030.00!!!  The winning bid was placed by user "MBean"  Can't wait to hear who paid so dearly for this bear.  In other auction news, Tyra without pompoms is showing a resurgence with a high bid of $345 with a couple of days still to go.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-31-00  The new attics are finally officially announced...and there are kitties.  YAY!!!  Max and Basil are silver and orange tabbies respectively, Greyson and Birch are official (no surprise there), Alfalfa the scarecrow, Merwyn the magician (both bears),   North the snowman, and Klause the distinguished looking, holiday bear.  This grouping excites me with the exception of Greyson who's just too homely for my tastes.  Check out the Ty site for the pics.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-29-00   Mary Beth's Beanbag World has a report from John in Germany talking about the recent show there.  Here is his quote on the Attics:   They also had the new Attic Treasures. I saw Birch, Greyson, and two others whose names I didn’t get.  On another display there were four other new ones that I haven’t heard of yet.  There was Merwyn, a bear dressed in the black cape and pointed hat with gold stars and lines.  Inside the tag it says, “One newt or two?”  Beside Merwyn was Alfalfa.  This bear was dressed as a scarecrow, and its tag says, “Let them eat crow.”  Next were two Christmas Attics.  The first one’s name was North.  It’s white and looks like a bear-snowman combination.  He’s wearing a red hat and a black, green, and red scarf.  His tag says, “Let it snow.”  Beside him was Klause, a white bear wearing a green and maroon hat with a matching vest.  Her tag says, “Sleigh what?”  Wonder when we'll see them here???

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-25-00     Peggy Gallagher sent us a note saying that she
just authenticated a MINTY MINT Woolie Brown with a MINT 1st gen Ty "Woolie
Brown"  heart tag. He had his little red ribbon. (no tush tag).  The owner is going to put it up for auction at TY Trade.  Keep your eyes peeled for this one!  Peggy reports that this is only the 4th one she has ever seen or heard of.  I've only seen two :-(  Thanks for the scoop Peggy!!!  Be sure to check out her fabulous TY site at www. beaniephenomenon.com      The auction is currently running on Ty Trade.  Just do a search for Woolie Brown, but be forwarned, this little guy is going to go for BIG bucks!

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-23-00    Ty announces the retirement of Berkley the bear.    Berkley has been out for less than a year and was one of the more popular of the non-jointed Attics.  Be sure to add him to your collection while you still can ;-)

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-15-00   Beanie Wonderland  reports a super scoop regarding new Ty items.  Check it our HERE.  Looks like, if this is true, that we'll soon be seeing Huntly, Birch, and Greyson here as well as a new Polar Bear.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-15-00   Nancy in Kansas reports " I found Clay,River and Easton today with the tush tag dated 2000. They were in a new shipment to a local dealer. I also have them with the tush tag dated 1993."  Who else has seen these?

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-14-00   Lulu reports on the CGTA show in Canada.  What is the status of Canadian exclusives?  Will Greyson and Birch show up there?  Read for yourself the answers to these questions and more in The Canadian Connection.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-2-00    Ms. Janie's site has an interesting tag error report.   "A special; thanks to Joseph for sharing the following:
I look forward to your newsletter. It keeps me in touch with the latest news.  I wanted to let you know I found another error tag on one of the new attic treasures-- I was looking around n our local Hallmark store and decided to check the new attic treasure tags (after reading about the error tag on River (?) )- well I found a Kingston with a Greyson tag (every cloud has a silver lining)."

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 8-2-00   Six new Attics finally showed up for their official photo session.  You'd have thought Easton would be embarrassed for anyone to see him  LOL

armstrong.jpg (72253 bytes)  baron.jpg (92968 bytes)  easton.jpg (52499 bytes)  franny.jpg (91468 bytes)  marigold.jpg (66545 bytes)  scarlet.jpg (51790 bytes)

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-31-00   Thank you Anne for this picture of Birch!  birch.jpg (68330 bytes)  Curious to see if these guys show up stateside.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-30-00   No attics for India...yet...  Details of Ty Asia starting shipments in India came out this week. In the Economic times it says, "The company is at the moment bringing in only Beanie Babies, Pillow Pals and TY Classics." That means no Attics or Beanie Kids for them yet. For details check out http://www.economictimes.com/today/01comp10.htm

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-29-00   A report of a "Tyrone" dressed as a cheerleader and purportedly sold as "Tyra" has come to our attention. Kris from the Bean Forest sends us this query from one of her readers:   "I went to the store and picked up "Tyrone"! Inside the tag it says "You're One Class Act" - When I got to the store and took a good look at the bear I knew it wasn't the Tyra that you posted on Chris's board yesterday. However, since I had them hold it for me I had to buy it since it was a done deal! This bear is darker colored than Tyra. Not as cute. She does have a red & white skirt and a red and white top.  However, the top does not say Ty on it. She has a red chiffon-like ribbon tied around here head with a bow on top. Around her neck attached to a piece of fine elastic is a red plastic megaphone which says "Go Team" on it. She wears white anklets and has white plastic shoes trimmed in red. Red pom poms are attached to her wrists with rubber bands."  Tyrone, of course, is a much different Attic than Tyra. He is larger, darker and has smoother fur. Unsuspecting buyers, however, looking for an elusive "Tyra" may get caught by this sneaky switcheroo.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-28-00   Looks like Ty has made it to India!  Following Ms.Janie's lead, Lulu found the details of Ty India at http://www.financialexpress.com/fe/daily/20000703/fpe02003.html   Check them out and check out the latest info on the Canadian Connection.

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-28-00    Based on a rumor Lulu read off The Underground Bean, she looked around and found out it's true! Check out this eBay sale. Birch is in GERMANY!!!!

Could Greyson be far behind?

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-24-00    NEW CURLY SWEATER  A new sweater has been found on the 18 inch Ty Attic/Plush Curly in Oklahoma. The bear is sporting a red sweater filled with colorful numbers. Inside the hang tag it reads the phrase "Rolling with the changes." Linda, the lady who found the bear is a school teacher and was delighted to see the theme of the sweater. She found two of these bears and plans to sell the second one soon. To see the bear and hang tag, check out Beanieholics  Curly1.jpg (55103 bytes)

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-21-00   Here are a  couple of pics of Grayson.   grayson.jpg (11953 bytes) and greysontag.jpg (28328 bytes)

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-18-00  Yet another new Attic surfaces in the UK. Andy writes to tell us "Hi I'm in UK and today found a new attic called Greyson with Poem "Behind every cloud is a silver lining!" Same shape/face as Carson, Harper, Hayes etc but has that same threadbear look that Birch was described as having. This time it is dark brown base with silvery fur showing through."  And the saga continues :-)

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-18-00  A few more details from Joyce re: Birch - "Birch was in a box of new and old Attics in a store in York England along with newbies Armstrong River and Kingston. The store only had one Birch left but the lady in the store didn't know how many they had received in their delivery earlier in the week she only new that 4 styles arrived unordered from Ty along with 4 new buddies and 4 new beanies (cashew runner(new poem) sniffer and another dog. it wasn't til we got home that I realized it wasnt an official newbie. Birch has identical tush tag to Armstrong and River it is unclothed with brown/goldtrim ribbon being same size and shape as Armstrong but the fabric is made to look threadbare with "skin" showing through."

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-16-00      A second new release mystery... Joyce from the UK reports yet another sighting. "Whilst shopping yesterday, I picked up three new Attics including a bear called 'Birch.'  This is a thread-bare looking brown bear with the saying "Growing Old Gracefully".  Style number 6232.  Keep your eyes out for this one.  Check out the report on The British Beat

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-11-00     The new Attics have been out just a week and already we have our first report of a mystery!  One of our intrepid site visitors picked up a River attic today, but instead of the River hang tag, he had one for someone named "Huntly"  with the tag line of "Oh So Sly"  AND a style number of 6238, one past River, who had the highest style number of the new ones.  Is there yet another new Attic looming on the horizon?  Thanks Jan for the scoop!  huntly tag.JPG (24299 bytes) and huntly tag back.JPG (10613 bytes).  Looks like there's a fox on the way...

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-08-00     The new Attics are showing up in the States.   Linda reports to our mailing list that she picked up the following Attics today to join Franny who she already had.

Three unjointed bears in a style & fabric like Berkley, except the nose is not shaved:
Marigold ... pale, pale yellow
Scarlet ... pale, pale pink
Armstrong ... pale, pale aqua?
Unjointed lion named Kingston which is darling, but doesn't fit the attic line at all
Unjointed panda named Easton (much like Harper, Hayes & Carson)
Jointed naked bears with ribbons:
Clay ... orange with a rust ribbon
River ... bright blue with a light blue ribbon
Fern ... khaki? olive? green with a darker olive ribbon
Jointed dressed bears
Mulligan ... light brownish gold bear with a golfing outfit
Baron .. a cream colored bear with a brown jacket (really liked this one)
Calliope ... a bluish bear in a jester outfit ... with the hat pieces sewn on like giant horns ... strange.  Check your stores on Monday.  The hunt is on!

Here are her great pics!  Thanks again Linda!

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-06-00    The first of the new Attics surface...in all places....the UK!  Thanks to Nicola, we have the first pics of these cuties.   Mulligan  Mvc-001s.jpg (19106 bytes)  Mvc-008s.jpg (20122 bytes) Franny Mvc-002s.jpg (20485 bytes)  Mvc-007s.jpg (20163 bytes) Fern Mvc-003s.jpg (18650 bytes) Mvc-006s.jpg (23210 bytes) and Clay Mvc-004s.jpg (18926 bytes)  Mvc-005s.jpg (22239 bytes)      Nicola currently has these Attics on auction at on Collecting Nation under the user name Beaniebrit     Be the first one on your block to own the new Attics!  Thanks Nicola!!!

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-06-00   It's another Attic retirement.  Ty announced the retirement of Carson, Hayes, and Harper- three of the less popular styles of the recent group of new Attics.  Make sure you have yours!

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-03-00    Is Ty trying to give eBay a run for their money?  Ty, Inc. has started a new section on their site entitled "Ty Trade"  where collectors can buy and sell at auction, not only Ty products, but other collectibles as well as electronics.  First reports are negative in that users are reporting difficulty getting registered, international collectors cannot participate, and the "come-on" of an exclusive beanie bear is already sold-out.  Time will tell, but with the established format of eBay, there seems to be little incentive at this time to moving auctions to Ty.  Even the "cyberpoints" that Ty is offering to use the auctions are outlandishly ridiculous in the number needed to acquire anything of worth.  Perhaps Ty should stick with putting the effort into producing more Attics :-

bear11.gif (261 bytes) 7-01-00    Supercollector Carla O. shares her unique find...Avid collector, Carla Opel, has just acquired what we believe to be the complete set of "Boca Bons" promotional Attic Treasures.
