   General Notes:

Hugh Munro served in the King's Royal Rifles of New York (Johnson's Greens). He served during the war, and later took land at Williamstown. He emigrated from Scotland in 1772 or1773. There is a story that the ship, on which they left Scotland, had difficulties, and pulled into Ireland, where they spent the winter, leaving for America the next spring, and arriving on Johnson's land in 1773. The family took rented accommodation near Johnstown, New York. There was considerable unrest... the stirrings of rebellion... Hugh, along with most of the other Scots (many of them, likely including Hugh, were veterans of Highland regiments which had fought in America during the 'French-Indian War), went with Johnson to Quebec where he was enrolled in the KRRNY. He was discharged 24 December, 1783. It appears that Catherine and the children came to Canada in 1784. The family was granted land in Charlottenburgh township, and went up river from Montreal to the east half of lot 22 on the south side of the River Raisin.
