Feb. 2005 Promotion

On Saturday February 5th the YMCA Bushi Kai Karate class held it’s quarterly Belt Promotion. There were 20 students that went before a Promotion Board at the Henry County YMCA in an attempt to advance to their next belt rank.
The Board consisted of five Black Belts; Shihan Monte Troxell - 7th Degree, Mr. Mike McCullough - 4th Degree, Mr. Daniel New - 3rd Degree,
Mr. Dudley Hellard - 3rd Degree and Mr. Eric Moore - 3rd Degree.
One special promotion was announced, Mr. Don Sparks of New Castle was promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt by Shihan Monte Troxell. Mr. Sparks is a Senior Advisor and Instructor for the Bushi Kai school.
The examination consisted of skills testing over Karate techniques, proficiency in fighting, endurance and spirit, required Kata (forms), Martial Art history and Japanese terminology. Thefollowing Bushi Kai students were successfully tested and evaluated during the three hour promotion.
Promoting to Blue Belt:
Adult Class
Brian Conway, Charlie Shields.
Youth Class
Matt Davis, Cody Denney, Elissha Mattheis, Christina Davis, and Katey Davis.
Completing a double Promotion to Blue Belt, Josh Funkhouser.
Tiger Cubs Class (5-8)
Brady Renner, A.J. Herr, Seth Shields, Dakota Davis, Baze Conway, Taylor Huth, Chase Hamilton, Blaine Darling, and Michael Tait.
Promoting to Orange Belt:
Completing a double promotion to Orange Belt, Samantha Hance, Youth Class.
Tiger Cubs Class(5-8)
Timmy Welch, Mary Margaret Welch.
