Taik Yoku Ni
(First Cause)
Basic H or I Pattern
Basic Kata #2 is run precisely like Basic Kata # 1, with only 2 changes.
1. All middle punches are now high punches.
2. The three middle punches up and down the middle, are now high blocks.
[ Basic Kata #2, has 2 changes.
[ Same pattern of movement.
[ Eyes should never be focused on the floor, but on your opponent. Eyes
should focus on the high block, then back to the opponent.
Basic Kata #3
Taik Yoku San
(First Cause)
Basic H or I Pattern
Ready stance, attention, bow.
1. Look left, 90 pivot into left foot forward back stance, middle forearm
block.
2. Slide step into front stance, middle punch.
3. Scan left, look over right shoulder, 180 pivot into right foot forward back
stance, middle forearm block.
4. Slide step into front stance, middle punch.
5. Look left, down the middle, 90 pivot into front stance, x-block, low block.
6. Left hand performs cover for right hand, pivoting forward down the
middle into 2nd level horse stance, lunge punch.
7. Right hand performs cover for left hand, pivoting forward down the \
middle in 2nd level horse stance, lunge punch.
8. Left hand performs cover for right hand, pivoting forward down the
middle in 2nd level horse stance, lunge punch, KIAI.
9. Scan right, look over left shoulder, 90 back pivot into left foot forward
back stance, middle forearm block.
10. Slide step into front stance, middle punch.
11. Scan left, look over right shoulder, 180 pivot into right foot forward back
stance, middle forearm block.
12. Slide step into front stance, middle punch.
13. Look left, up the middle, 90 pivot into front stance, x-block, low block.
14. Left hand, performs cover for right hand, pivoting forward up the middle
in 2nd level horse stance, lunge punch.
15. Right hand performs cover for left hand, pivoting forward up the middle
in 2nd level horse stance, lunge punch.
16. Left hand performs cover for right hand, pivoting forward up the middle
in 2nd level horse stance, lunge punch, KIAI.
17. Scan right, look over left shoulder, 90 back pivot into left foot forward
back stance, middle forearm block.
18. Slide step into front stance, middle punch.
19. Scan left, look over right shoulder, 180 pivot into right foot forward back
stance, middle forearm block.
20. Slide step into front stance, middle punch.
21. Look left, down the middle, 90 pivot snapping into ready stance.
Attention, bow.
[ Basic #3, has 3 changes. Back stance, Middle block and Horse
stance lunge punch.
[ When doing the middle block in this kata, block from inside, "draw the
sword".
[ In all of these kata, feet should stay in contact with the ground, or in
close contact while moving.
