Recycled can and cardboard box
The can is a vegetable can that I filled with water and froze, then used
a hammer and nail to make holes, sponge painted it with black, copper, and
green metal paint. Then I cut the top and bottom off a pop can so I just
had a sheet of aluminum...I painted it using the same paint colors and
cut petal and leaf shapes out after it was dry. I bent them a little
before glueing them to the vegetable can.I used E6000 glue.I put a
votive candle inside and it's a wonderful look for the picnic table or
deck at night.
The box had an ornament in it and was too nice to throw away...so I
painted it black, let it dry, then painted it with crackle medium...let
dry...then painted with a terra cotta color.I used chunky stamps for the
design.I made little tiles with polymer clay for the lid. I glued them
on...then used snow for grout....let dry...I thinned down some brown
paint and covered the lid and wiped it off to give a tint to the grout.
This little guy started out as a cork from a wine bottle and a wooden bead. Glue the bead to the end of the cork...paint the bead an off white color....hot glue a piece of fabric to the cork for a shirt...now take 2 pieces of fabric and cut into squares as long as you wish the arm to be...roll the squares to make a sleeve..glueing when you get to the end of the fabric...this will look like an arm...glue the arms to the body(cork)...glue several wide pieces of raffia to the top of the bead for hair...you can use a needle to shred it after you have glued his hat on. You can also trim it into a haircut afterwards. Glue a little raffia inside his sleeves, sticking out the opening like his hands. Add hat, button, some patches on his hat...paint face and you're finished.
I've seen many variations of the "jean pocket magnet". This is mine. The little loop on the side is to hold a pen. Add magnets to the back and you have a nifty refigerator decoration...keep blank paper, or grocery lists, phone numbers, etc. in the pocket. The daisy was my choice, you could paint anything you like and add a few embellishments.
"Here are pictures of my daughter's childrens crib, turned into 2 benches. My son made it for my daughter for her birthday! And he did a beautiful job! Jen was so thrilled with them. We used the foot board and head board as the backs of the bench, and the side rails as the arm rests.....well, anyways, we now have 2 benches, so each of her 2 kids will have a piece of their baby crib that they can use forever! A recycled crib! Better than throwing it away, huh? Enjoy! Hmmmmmm, Jen left them here last night and said she'd pick them up today sometime........do ya think she'd notice if I hid them and said they were stolen and just keep them for myself? I'm gonna try it!"

I made this from scrap wood hubby had laying around.
I made this flag and angel from brown bag that I painted and sealed. FLAG
1. Cut square bottom from grocery size bag and open to make 1 large piece of paper.
2. Decide what size you want your flag... use glue stix to glue 2 pieces
of the brown bag together making certain the glued area is bigger than
the size flag you've chosen...let dry.
3. Using a ruler or yardstick...tear the dry bag to the measurements you
want for your flag...leaving a rough edge...it looks more rustic than if
you cut your flag with scissors.
4. Cover brown bag piece with gesso..let dry and repeat on other side..it
helps to stiffen the paper.
5. Use acrylic paints for stars and stripes... I also used brown chalk on
a small sponge to add the shaded color along the stripes and stars after
paint was dry.
6. Spray with sealer and set aside.
ANGEL
1. To make the angel...you will determine an angel shape you will be
using...I drew a simple circle for the head and made sure the dress was
designed to have arms painted on...the wings are 2 hearts...all pieces
will be doubled like the flag...but when you glue you angel's dress
together..glue close to the edge so you can put a small amount of
stuffing in before you glue the bottom shut. I used white glue for this
step.
2. Paint angel and wings...let dry and and glue wings to angel...now.
glue the entire angel to the flag with white glue or hot glue.Spray with
sealer.
3. I use a paper punch to make holes along the top of the flag ..
notebook holes were used aound the punched holes to reinforce... run
twine through to attach the flag to a stick and add twine for hanger.
I bought this terrific old basin at a flea market for $2...added flowers and now I have a wonderful old piece to display on the wall.
I made these tags from brown bag that I crinkled and stamped...added my version of paper quilling and came up with a look I liked. It was my first try with the paper flowers and leaves made from thin paper strips.
I found this in my neighbor's trash..it was covered with spilled paint in every color...I sanded and painted base coat black and a crackle coat
of dark green. I stenciled and painted the designs. I was quite happy with my find.
Hubby removed metal frame from the stormwindow and made a wooden frame for me. I used Gallery Glass to make the lilly pad design. This will go over my bathroom window to let light in and make for great privacy.
I painted the wooden frame like a quilt all different shapes and
colors...then I stenciled the birdhouses, etc. on the back side of the
glass....covered the back with a piece of muslin.
Another window.
Close up of frame.
