Angels

The frame on this picture was painted black...I decoupaged torn pieces of music sheets over it...the background for the angel is handmade paper and the angel is made from 10 sheets of double ply toilet paper...yep...you heard me right...stack 10 sheets of 2 ply TP...then find a mold you want to use..lay the sheets on the mold and spritz with water til damp...push the sheets down into the mold and let dry...I've done angels, roses and dolphins. The coin looking embellishments are made from lids off Pringle's cans. I heat the lids with my heat gun...stamp with rubber stamp and paint black..with "plastic" paint...acrylics peel off...after the black dries, I use finger rub paints to make the detail show up.

Angel Pin

Tea Bag Angel

You must use FLO-THRU TEA BAGS...the others won't work the same... the angel's body is 1 complete flo thru tea bag...shake all the tea to the bottom of the bag...take a 2nd flo thru bag and shake the tea to the TOP of the bag where the staple and tag are..then using fancy cut scissors cut the WIDE end of the tea bag so you can shake the tea out of that bag.....the empty bag will be scrunched in the middle where the staple is..it will look like arms or wings...glue or staple this empty bag to what will be the back side of the top of the 1st tea bag... which would be the body part of your angel...now glue your wooden head on the top front of the 1st bag... add a ribbon below her chin..and a halo to her head...and I think the extra little wing looking things in the picture is the paper package the teabag came in...I think I scrunched it in the middle and glued it to the back of the bags...leave the string and tag on the 1st bag(body) as a hanger.

This angel is made from a very simple pattern. She is made from muslin and stuffing and her wings are muslin that has been sewn over in many different directions..then hot glued or sewn to her back. Before stuffing sew a line straight up the midde of the angel about 1/3 of the way to create her legs(this idea was given to me by Linda in Ohio)... Now stuff..Her hands are hot glued together at the tips and I added a few dried flowers from my yard and a small bow around her neck. Her hair is moss and her halo is a small piece of pre-strung beads. Her eyes are painted dots..and her cheeks are blushed.
