When browsing the DirecTV channel Locomotion, i found this hidden treasure.
Normally i don't like japanese animation series. Particularly, because many of them just show us a bunch of guys fighting each other with their superpowers. This is caused not because of bad morality in japanese culture, but because this kind of shows have a high rating in the US, and rating is the God of TV. Examples of trash series are Dragonball, Pokémon, Digimon, Saint Seiya, Ranma 1/2 or the literally blasphemous sci/fi "Evangelion", to name a few.
Saber Marionette is different. Why? Because it has so much love impregnated in it. It is located 5 centuries in the future, in a planet known as Terra II, inhabitated only by men and female androids called marionettes. The series is about a guy named Otaru, and his 3 marionettes who happen to have special circuits that give them self-consciousness and emotions.
Despites the sexual situations present (nothing explicit, but let's just say some parents would feel uncomfortable watching them), the series are a diamond among coals:
First, because they make us wonder what makes us human, and what makes people good.
Second, they teach us about love, and emotions. Very few things can move a male teenager's heart, and this is one of them. They teach us to look at life from a different perspective, and make us understand what is in the heart of a woman in love - not to mention the christian influence in the series. More about SMJ spirituality coming soon...
