Spiffed Up/Restored

Sometimes I buy a custom or resin by another artist whose paint job is failing and needs some touch-ups, so I spiff them up myself. In some cases it can even be called restoring. This gallery is for those horses painted by another artist that I later worked on for some reason or another.

#20 - Abdul Kareem - finished in 1999

His name means "Servant of the Noble, Generous One" in Arabic. He is the PX On Fire resin revamped by me! New mane, tail, markings, and sanded down nose! The grey coloring is all that's left from his original paint job! He didn't place much in halter at shows so I retired him from that, but he has NAN'd in arabian costume before!

#24 Elusive Dreams - finished 2000

This is a dream come true - I saw this custom on a website over a year or two ago, before I got as into models and I am now, and fell in love! He wasn't for sale, though. About a month ago (April/May) I found the website again and he WAS for sale!! However he was on hold...but I emailed his owner and said if by a miracle the other person cancelled out I'm buy him in an instant, and she emailed me back saying that she hadn't heard from the person in a long time, so I could buy him! YESSSS!!! When she sent him to me, she saw he had some epoxy lifting, so refunded me a little (since I still wanted him). SO I got my dream boy and - yep - spiffed him up! NOW he's got a TON more AWSOME dapples and veining and detailing (and the sanded lifting expoxy part). And he is such a stud!! Unbelievable!
UPDATE: I lengthened his ears since they were small and he began placing much better, and has NAN'd once for NAN '02!

Serengeti

This is the wonderful Rimspark SM-sized resin by and painted by Pamela DeMuth, then blended the color a bit more and added a white spot on his right hind. He is the ultimate performance horse and I have a lot of fun with him! Please visit the winners page on my SM tack site to view pictures of him winning in performance tack. These are his winnings since I started showing him performance in late 2000: NAN'd in Western Pleasure and won Reserve Western Champion, NAN'd in English pleasure THREE TIMES, NAN'd in Hunter/Jumper, NAN'd in Other/Parade, and has won Reserve CM/AR Performance Champ!

Here is his beautiful head. I really like the head on this resin. It's so cute!

San Peppy Sprint

Classic Quarter Horse Stallion CM by Carol Williams in 1987. For being that old, he is in excellent shape! She did a great job on him, with the most adorable face and gorgeous coloring ever, a bit of musclework with epoxy, probably, (and no cracks from heat/old age!) and a hairing job better than some you see today! I call this picture his "Before" pic, taken by Jen Kroll of Thistlewood Arabians & Morgans in 1999.

And these are his "After" photos, taken by me after I 'restored' him from his hocks and knees down, due to rough seams. I sanded and resculpted in parts his lower legs and hooves, repainted them, repainted the white markings, and painted black over the glue spots on his hairing job. Now he's even better and LSQ!
This is his show record:
Real New Millenium Live 1/27/01: 5/11
Gold Country 3-01: 5/11
Rockin Reno 4-01: 2/2 NAN Qualified!
I think that' so cool that he's that old and still showing!
