Here I will show you a somewhat step-by-step process of how I made Frosted. I started with the Peter Stone Ideal Stock Horse. I was not that fond of his higher headset or head in general, so I knew I wanted to lower his headset and soften his nack. And add details, and a new mane, and tail, and...you'll see. Read on!
STEP 1
I sanded his mane off since I wanted a shorter banded one, and used a saw to cut the base of his neck where it connects to the shoulders. I sawed it almost all the way off, leaving a bit attached at the top. This is shown in the two left photos. Then I heated that bit and realized for his neck to go anywhere I had to cut more out! So you can see in the right picture where I cut a much bigger chunk out (more than was needed!) and heated and moved his head and neck down.
STEP 2
Big step! Sanded all the seams, details, and such. Put a few layers of epoxy on the neck to cover that hold and chopped his tail off a bit sinceI decided I wanted it more strait down, too. I had found pictures to refer to for the muscle structure of the shoulders and withers, since I needed to resculpt them, seeing as I has dremeled most of them off in the process of repashing the neck base!
STEP 3
Here he's got a new mane and tail started. Shoulder muscles and neck base muscles have been pretty much finished up. You can see where I've marked with a pencil some muscle that needs more building up. I used the pencil to draw the muscles on and mark spots like that that needed epoxy or dremeling a lot - it really helps! He's had a softening of the jaw and muzzle with whisker bumps added!
STEP 4
These pictures were taken right before he was primed - se he's all set and ready to go! The shoulder muscles are finished, as are all the details. He has a beautiful new tail and mane with hairs drawn with an exacto knife - very deatiled!
STEP 5
Primed and ready! What a beauty in white...now it's time to paint! Yeah!
