I customized Diasy from the smaller-than-Stablemate resin "SCC Patience," with original sculptor Darian Buckle's permission. I turned her head so that it is now looking behind her by cutting off her neck and resculpting it around wire. I resculpted her face, parting her lips into a nicker full with itty bitty teeth. I also sculpted her scruffy mane, swishing tail, and feathering on her fetlocks. I painted her a flaxen-type chestnut, and am extremely happy with her coloring. Throughout painting her I really had no idea what I was doing. I had an idea of the color I wanted, and had lots of reference photos, but did not know what colors to use. So I just held my breath and went for it, and she turned out perfectly. She has so many layers of color on her I can't even start to count them! Unfortunately, these digital pictures did not pick up on her painted detail that much, so her dapples are brighter than they appear, and she has delicate veining on her rear, belly, and chest. However, they did pick up her sculpted details very well, better than I could have by camera and scanner. Anyway, she is the most drastic custom I have done yet, as of the day she was finished, 3/18/2002. I will show her as a young Belgian mare.
Here are pics of her and her detailing:
And just to give you and idea of just how small she is, here she is with Washington looking at something to the left that's out in the picture.
