About Dusty Springfield The great British Female singer Dusty Springfield owned a 1964 Buick Riviera like the one on the home page of this site. Dusty loved sports cars and even though the Riviera was not really considered a sports car or a hot rod like the Pontiac GTO, the Ford Mustang, or the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird, it was one car people wanted to own and be seen in. Dusty, pictured above, was one of the greatest female pop / soul voices of the '60s, famous for songs like "Son Of A Preacher Man", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" (her number one song in the UK, number 3 Billboard in the USA), "The Look Of Love", and "I Only Want To Be With You". She enjoyed a spectacular comeback in the late '80s and early '90s before her illness and death in 1999 from breast cancer. Her later hits include "What Have I Done To Deserve This" (with the Pet Shop Boys - who helped put her back in the public spotlight), "Reputation", "In Private", "Nothing Has Been Proved", and "Where Is A Woman To Go?". In the early '60s, she was part of the folk trio The Springfields, who were the first British band of any kind to have a Billboard Top 40 Hit, "Silver Threads and Golden Needles", in 1960. The Springfields were originally composed of Tom Springfield (Dion O'Brien - her brother), Dusty, and Tim Field. Tim was replaced by Mike Hurst during The Springfield's run, which also included the hit "Island Of Dreams". Dusty Springfield's real name was Mary
Isabel Catherine
