A Wolf Of A Different Color

The Beautiful African Painted Dog
(Lycaon Pictus)

The African Wild Dog is not only a creature of many amazing colors, but it also one of many names. Also known as the African Hunting Dog, the African Painted Dog, the Cape Hunting Dog- all these names speak of the same magnificent animal.

My love of this animal remains on par with my love & awe of the wolf. Both are true gifts to this earth, in my eyes. Both are to be treasured and cherished, and all must be done to ensure that we do not lose these amazing animals from our midst.

Along with links to direct you towards organizations that you can visit to see what you can do to help ensure the survivial of the African Painted Dog, this page was also created to display photos showcasing this beautiful creature.

You may think that after looking at one or two pictures of this amazing animal, that I have gone overboard with all these pics. But I can honestly say, that each pic is a work of beauty in my eyes, and I could look at this animal all day.

My dream is to one day visit not only all of the zoos and wildlife parks that house african painted dogs- but also, my ULTIMATE wish is to one day go to South Africa to see these amazing animals running with freedom in the Okavango Delta.
*dreamy eyes & sighs*
One day....

Ok- back to reality and the necessary request.

AT LONG LAST, I finally meet the wild doggies I had been waiting months to see- just never knew how excited they would be to see me. *giggles*

Below is the video taken by my tiggy that shows how **ecstatic** the wild dogs were that I had arrived, after so long spent waiting. *winks*

Clickies HERE to see VIDEO of how ecstatic the wild doggies were that I had finally arrived. *lol*

As a special treat to me, a friend who is a trainer at the zoo had arranged a meeting for me with one of the dog keepers. And as *an extra special treat* for me, she had arranged that the keeper would toss meatballs into the dogs' enclosure from above- so I could see the dogs vocalizing and running around. Was AWESOME!! And I felt soooo special :)

NO wonder the dogs were sooooooo excited so to see me..
For I am the girl who makes it RAIN MEATBALLS whenever she shows up!!
Now THAT is power!!
*lol*

Below is video that my tiggy took of that MOST amusing moment
