Mascots

Name: Shinryu
Domain: Main Page & Top Bar - Official ET Mascot
Name Root: Final Fantasy V
Bio: Shinryu is sort of what you'd expect from a dragon - intelligent, arrogant, powerful, and so forth. The truth of his being, however, lies in his deeply philosophical soul, and his strong moral convictions. Philosophy is a way of life to Shinryu, and it is not a thing to be taken lightly.
Archetype: Shinryu, being the mascot, is the purely transcendent mascot - for the most part, he transcends archetypes. He represents that which truly achieves its goals and ambitions, and allows itself to be exactly what it wants to be.

Name: Fenrir
Domain: The Q! Cafe
Name Root: Xenogears
Bio: Fenrir is a mecha. That's obvious. He's also something of a knight, but he doesn't adhere to all of the chivalric code, just the archetype of loyalty. He'll stand by his allies and friends until the bitter end, and they know that. Of course, he also loves a good scrap.
Archetype: Fenrir doesn't represent much more than mecha, but he represnts the ideal of mecha (that's at least partially conveyed in Mecha Thrash) - something powerful, alien, and warlike.

Name: Caine
Domain: RPG Archive
Name Root: Vampire: The Masquerade
Bio: Perhaps the most silent mascot, Caine spends most of his time simply observing and examining. It's rare for him to take any direct action, but when he doesn, he's proven multiple times he can bring great strength to bear. He's suspected to be the root of a whole race of vampires. Or not.
Archetype: Caine is the essence of questioning and refining, re-examining something and re-tooling it until it is perfected.

Name: Broken
Domain: Updates
Name Root: Archmage: Reincarnation from Hell
Bio: Some souls don't finish the trip to the afterlife because they have unfinished business. And some receive torment for it. Broken falls under the second category, having been in torment so long he's forgotten what his original goal was. Although he usually tries not to show his rage, it comes out anyways...
Archetype: Broken is defeat, anger, frustration, and pain personified. Even the name implies something destroyed, left as nothing but a wreck of its former self.

Name: Smaug
Domain: Fractyl Depot
Name Root: The Hobbit
Bio: Smaug is the dragon-hunter-hunter, a dragon with a sword of knight, armor of gods, and breath of inferno. Despite his power, he is not aggressive, seeking to fight only for personal vengeance or defensive reasons. A largely silent dragon, with very few of the typical draconic ambitions.
Archetype: Smaug is the essential force of reunification, bringing together and defending things that were previously abandoned/demolished.

Name: Olaf
Domain: The Stockpile
Name Root: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter
Bio: Physically, probably the strongest of all the mascots, Olaf is far from the strong silent type. It's tough to stop him from bragging about how strong he is, and sometimes is dangerously easy to get him into a fight. But when Olaf chooses not to move - well, it's simply not going to happen.
Archetype: Olaf is the bulwark of the mascots, absolutely unmovable if he decides to be, with a whole lot of strength to back up his resolution.

Name: Gryph
Domain: Fiction Vault
Name Root: TransFan community
Bio: Gryph, the hunter, is one of the deadlier mascots - and he knows it. His arrogance is legendary, and he tends to boast about even minor accomplishments for a long time after the fact. Few can stand his self-aggrandizing behavior, but they have to admit, he is good at what he does.
Archetype: Despite his arrogance, Gryph represents pride - pride in accomplishments, pride in victory, pride in almost any field necessary.

Name: Soloth
Domain: Travel Center
Name Root: Lord Toede
Bio: Soloth is not a dragon. He knows it, the other mascots know it, and just about everybody knows it. However, since he doesn't want to deal with that aspect of things, he keeps on pretending he's a dragon - something that proves to be quite a hindrance when, say, he tries to fly.
Archetype: The only negative mascot other than Broken, Soloth represents mockery - something that is trying to pretend to be something other than it really is.

Name: Hydrus
Domain: ET FAQ
Name Root: Archmage: Reincarnation from Hell
Bio: Nobody has ever seen Hydrus's body - just the heads. At last count, he had well over twenty thousand of them (although this picture only shows seven). The problem is that unlike most hydrae, he has a separate brain in each head, so usually he just bickers amongst himself.
Archetype: Hydrus represents two things - first, indecision, and second, general clamor. His representating the ET FAQ in no way reflects any opinions...

Name: Milgasia
Domain: Studio Gallery
Name Root: Slayers Next
Bio: Never nearly as much of a dragon as Shinryu or Smaug, Milgasia is primarily interested in using his intellect and creative skill to deceive and confuse. He's not so much evil as he is mischevious... more like Xellos than anything else.
Archetype: Milgasia is creation in its purest form, and symbolizes the birth of something new into the world.
