This talk and advice session for local mothers was held on the last day of August by Claire McCarthy, a former member of the St. John Ambulance corps. There she is (wearing the spotty blouse) talking to S.G. the h.c.w. before the event was due to start.
Here
they are, closer up (note the dolls on the table. These were to used for
life-saving
techniques
later on in the morning).
As
well as being for local mums, the event was for their kids too, and what
they could do in an emergency. I got this pic of Bessie and Jade while
we waited for more mothers to arrive (little Bessie always brings a smile
to S.W-H's face whenever
she
comes to the centre with her mother, as she regularly asks him for the
"golden tooth" he
has.
Style-conscious at that tender age - golly!).
As quite a few more mothers began to turn up, it was time for the talk to start. Here's S.G. introducing Claire to the mums assembled and in the second pic, Claire began to talk about what to down in various situations where someone was unconscious and fast actions were v. necessary.
The
local mothers who came listened intently throughout. Here's Keeley, who
you may have
seen
earlier in amongst the Olympic
Team Quiz
pics
and a local mum whose name I forget with
her
son, listening to what was said to
them
and asking questions.
