More community snaps for you to enjoy, and these were taken during the autumn half-term when S.G. decided to organise a craft session for Halloween. Sitting at various tables, the kids assembled coloured in sheets I'd photocopied earlier in the week, answered questions from a Halloween-themed quizsheet and then cut out various spooky shapes that were to be placed in the window for display during the period up to Halloween. Seeing me with my trusty compact Olympus, the girls below put on their best smiles.
Here's Khadijah and her cousins colouring their sheets. Her mother brought her into the centre every day of the half-term, and she'd either have a go on the SAT's programs, or play her favourite game on the homework computer (as well as most of the children in the centre too), which was 'David Bellamy's Endangered Wildlife'.
Here's a v.rare photo indeed. I finally managed to catch young Jordan unawares (there she is, with the pink bands in her hair), as the moment she sees me with my camera, she disappears from view.
Sparing Jordan further blushes, I snapped her friends at the table she was sitting at. From left to right are Tariq, Jonathan (looking unusually serious), Adam and Alec, while Lacey looks on at the girls' table behind. But I got one last pic of Jordan with her friends (she looked up just as I snapped).
S.G. prepares the facepaints for use as Lacey chooses a pattern from the book below (she certain took her time, I must say!) and Amy looks on.
Having
painted Lacey's face, S.G. started work on young Jenny below (you'll
see her effort
over
on the next page).
In
a far flung corner of the centre, I found two young lads busying themselves
with the minimum
of
fuss. Here we see Odell drawing a particularly spooky tree, while Ayotomide
traced himself
a
mask of Frankenstein's monster below.
