Obligatory Self serving Diatribe:

I just read a really great bunch of self-depreciating diatribe at my Padawan's page and man -- she is one majory cool breed of cat.  So I thought "Hmm, it's 1:30 in the morning, you're suffering from exhaustion after swimming yourself sick at the pool in 30 degree heat (celcius) and you trust yourself to be coherent enough right now to write an impressive bunch of stuff that people will read and go 'Ooh, she is funny and witty - I love her and want to worship her'?"    The answer is - no I don't.  Which is why you're reading this shit.  I figure anything I come up with now will be more interesting than what I come up with when I'm coherent.

I'm Australian.  Very very Australian.  I used to be embarrassed about that fact.  Then came the Sydney Olympic Games, and I knew - no matter how Aussie I feel, I will never be as Aussie as THOSE people.

I'm from migrant descent.  I'm half German, quarter Scottish and quarter Maltese with a dash of French.   I grew up with people who had different cultures and liked to infuse them into our every day lives.   Which means new years consists of my German father donning a kilt and playing Auld Lang Syne.  That and rolling our easter eggs down hillocks.  It's fun, you should try it.

When I'm cold, I speak in a funny accent.  Sometimes people think I'm a pom (english, no offense to the brits) but I'm not.  I can roll my r's in any part of my mouth with the best of them, be they German or Scot.  I have this great skin that goes this warm brown in the summer, thanks to my Gran from Malta.  I have fucking excellent legs, thanks to my skinny-arsed Dad.   And thanks to my Mumsy - I have hips that kill.

I don't swim very well.

I am good at making things, like webpages and songs and pictures.   Those three things are my specialty, but I also dabble in writing, as you no doubt have found out.

I love musicians that love their art.

I love my online friends.  These are people that are generally more cerebral than your average joe and a lot more fun.   I love Mel, Findley, Xeb, Misty, Kawcrow, Donna, Diebin, Shaz, Nickle, the GJRS crew, the Angst Grrls, the WRList Grrls, and the rest of them (if I've talked to you and liked you you know who you are - I love you all).

I love beautiful people.   I mean truly beautiful people.  Hugh Jackman is a beautiful person.  He is an artist, a husband, a goofball and a laid-back dude.   Kevin Smith (of Xena fame) is a beautiful person - he is actually much the same, and is a hell of a lot of fun.  I had the opportunity of meeting him, and he is such a lovely person, inside and out.  Jeff Buckley was a beautiful person.  His music will always be a part of me.

Movies that made me cry:

X-Men - that damned Logan/Rogue theme-music!  And all I can say is Statue of Liberty!
Titanic - Thomas Andrews dying was the worst.  I kinda laughed when Leo got it.
Dumbo - Aw come on, the Mum in Jail scene didn't rip your heart out?
Romeo & Juliet (Modern) - Just a sad movie, really.  Guns, dead people - sad.
The Green Mile - I warn you NOT to see this movie if you're a big human rights activist.
