Welcome to my Wookiee appreciation
page. This is dedicated to everyones favorite Wookiee, Chewbacca.
And just for the record, Wookiee is spelled with TWO e's, so all you people
who insist on spelling it with ONE. . .stop it. Or me and Chewie
will come to your house and rip your arms off.
Chewbacca is
the powerful and fearless companion of Han Solo. Freed from Imperial
imprisonment by Han, Chewbacca became his copilot on the Millenium Falcon
and together they travelled the galaxy as smugglers. Then they met
Obi-Wan Kenobi on that fateful day in the Mos Eisly Cantina and both their
lives took an unexpected turn. Soon they became involved with the Rebel
Alliance, struggling to defeat the evil Empire, and restore peace to the
galaxy. Chewbacca became one of the greatest heroes of the Star Wars
universe, and one of the most memorable characters to ever grace the silver
screen.

The man behind the Wookiee. . .
The talents of Peter Mayhew, the
actor who portrayed Chewbacca, have largely gone unnoticed by most people.
But what would Star Wars be without him? Sure they could've gotten
some other big guy and stuck him in a furry Wookiee suit. But who
other than Peter could make those crazy little Wookiee sounds with quite
the same skill and Wookieeness? Who else could choke Lando with such
vivacious rage? Everyone loves Chewbacca, and Peter is Chewbacca.
So lets take a moment to say thanks to Peter for being the best Wookiee
he could be, and making Star Wars what it is today.
