April 2007
Welcome
to The Postie Memorial Day.
(2nd round of the 2007 Lindenberg)
Today we honour the
memory of Gordon Donald (LM)
who served the Lizards for more years than most of us can remember. Our
treasurer up to the time of his passing, he epitomized the spirit that
has kept
the Lizards running strongly for nearly 60years.
God bless old mate.
DAVID
RAYNER (GRIZZ) MEMORIAL DAY,
with 20 Lizards and 1 visitor, produced the following
results:

2nd LIZARDS Michael Harrison - 39 points on count-back off 10 handicap
1st VISITORS Geoffrey Wade - 33 points off 39 handicap
BEST SCRATCH Chris Mooney - 25 points
BEST FRONT NINE Geoffrey Wade - 23 points off 39 handicap
BEST BACK NINE David Gilchrist - 20 points off 18 handicap
NEAREST the PINS 19+ 1st N.G.E. 18th Dennis Castle

LONGEST DRIVES 19+ 6th Colin Lacey

BRADMAN Lizards Wall Hill - 22 points off 39 handicap
Visitors Geoffrey Wade - 33 points off 39 handicap
The day’s winner,
Hartmut Schwarz did not make the Lindenberg field due to being cleaned
up in an
accident shortly before the qualifying round. His 44 points was 5 clear
of the
field and the rest of us had to listen to more recitals of “I am the
greatest”
than could be heard at a combined Cassius Clay & Tony Mundine press
conference.
Michael Harrison made a return to the pay out window scoring 39 points
to beat
David Gilchrist&
the Dobber on a count back. The way he disposed of the excess froth on
his
downer was applauded by all at the meeting with the exception of “I am
the
greatest” who was sitting right in front of him.
Geoff Wade had little
trouble cleaning up the
visitor’s events winning first prize & the Bradman. He seemed a
little bit
miffed when told there was no prize for second place.
Neil Winterton &
Ian Massey were our caterers
on the day & served up a variety of gourmet sausages for our main
meal. They have been slotted in for the
same month
next year with strict instructions to provide more of the same.
Walter Hill is congratulated for
implementing the catering roster that has been serving the lizards so
well. The
variety of meals we have enjoyed has been great & the work load has
been
shared by most. Well done Wal. (by the
way, you are caterer this month).
Complementing our
caterers would not be complete
without mentioning the expertise of our BBQ chef extraordinaire. Bill has his job down to a fine art & his
cooking is appreciated by all, especially those who like their meat
well done.
