Welcome to the Eighth Edition
of the Morgan-Mooney Day
Michael & Chris both joined the Lizards in 1992 and between them have held just about every position possible on our committee. Currently our Treasurer & President respectively, they are also the day’s caterers.
Well done gentlemen.
CASTLE-HILL
PLATE DAY, with 19 Lizards and 3
visitors, produced the following

PUTTING COMPETITION Michael Morgan - 29 putts
Garry Bird & David Gilchrist
with 42 & 41
points respectively took the Lizards “Quinella”. When our match
committee
discovered that they had played together in a two ball, their score
cards &
pencils were impounded for a thorough forensic examination. Unfortunately, being a Sunday, all necessary
testing equipment was unavailable & the only DNA profile obtained
was
limited to traces of sheep & sparrow.
In the circumstances the result was left to stand.
David Tallis blitzed the visitor’s
trophy with a
fine 41 points. His handicap of 40, however, brought into question his
relationship with the handicapper.
Chris Lacey showed what a great
golfing coach his
father is by qualifying for the “funny hat” award with 19 points.
Chris Mooney, in a show of support
for his
predecessor Col Lacey, did the Presidential thing & donned the
other “funny
hat” joining Lacey junior for the singalong & chugalug.
Bill Sheehan once again showed that
cooking is not
his only area of expertise by winning a nearest the pin on the 13th
hole with a
shot that had to be seen to be believed.
Ian Massey was awarded an
appropriately
monogrammed cap during the course of the meeting. “Anchor” has promised
that in
future he will finish in the group he started with rather than the
following
group.
Jim Small, our esteemed Victualler, in a brazen display of dereliction
of duty,
forgot to bring the glasses for the downers. Unperturbed, he borrowed a
set of
“Yuppie” glasses from Vicki causing great distress to the non-Yuppie
lizards
who had to use them.
Hart Schwarz was requested by the
day’s caterers
to obtain two half legs of ham for November’s lunch.
He queried this request by suggesting that he
should get a whole leg of ham because it would be bigger.
No wonder his mob don’t win many wars.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the
crapper takes to
his red pen in the lead up to the Morgan-Mooney day.
Last month more than half the Lizards shot
their handicaps or better with five of them scoring in the forties.
Since our last meeting the Lizards
made their
annual trip to Port Macquarie. Results
of the golf played were as follows:

Obviously we were not well treated

that it was due to
the absence of the President.
