THE
LIZARDS EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO NEW EDITOR ANDREW WARNER LM
As this issue marks my debut as your Editor, it would be remiss of me not to pay tribute to my predecessor Bill Epps. We have all enjoyed Bill’s contribution over many, many years. His ability to report our activities in his unique humorous style has made the FOL a publication to be treasured. I only hope I can go part way to maintaining this standard.
Thanks Bill.

It was nice to see Ian Massey make
a rare visit to
the pay window. “Anchor” nearly got his
second result for the day when Col Lacey let off a fire cracker
directly behind
him. He could have been a messy Massey.
Keith Townsend made short work of
the visitor’s
trophy winning by 9 points. Bruce
Staples hung in there during the first nine scoring 19 points but,
after a dose
of Bill’s cooking, fell in a heap ending up in the “funny hat duet”
with
Walter.
Walter Hill was our only multiple
winner on the
day. He won the best back nine with 18
points but still managed to win the Bradman after scoring only 6 points
on the
front. Only Wal could think of this
method to get the loot.
Another of Walter’s great ideas was
the “Catering
Roster”. Apart from the fact that Neil
Winterton lost the original version, we have been well looked after all
year. Mike Dodd did an excellent job
providing our
tucker for the day & this month we will enjoy the offerings of our
Our fairways on the day were graced
by a brace of
Schwarzes. Grant (the taller) was runner
up in the visitor’s event & managed to win the long drive. Hart (the older) managed to avoid the Bradman
by one point.
