Seasons Greetings

President Colin Lacey wishes the members, visitors and our readers in Australia and Overseas

A Merry Christmas

WELCOME TO CHRISTMAS CARROLL DAY

And to Dawson on his 18th round the world trek to be donor of the prizes on his day – as well as being sponsor of the prestigious DAWSON CARROLL CUP.  The only annual trophy to be on show prior to the match and be taken home by the winner at the end of the day.

RECENT WINNERS have been:

2000               Frank Van Heyningan

2001               Alan Lewis

2002               Jim Small

2003               Jim Small

2004               Neil Winterton

PRIOR to the ’04 match all indications, including radar, sonar asdic and the Tea Lady at NATO, favoured JIM to pull the rabbit out of the hat trick and be propelled to the legendary fame as shared by Robin Hood, Humpty Dumpty and Jack the Ripper – however history records that Jim earned the title of Lizards Bradman on the day, a title he had avoided during his 17 years of membership.

CHRISTMAS CARROLL DAY is when members and visitors “Bring a Gift” and “Receive a Gift”. If you have arrived in the shed with nothing more in your Christmas Stocking than your foot, you can nick up to Vicky’s emporium and make a purchase – wrapping paper and scotch tape is available in the shed.  Otherwise, refrain from choosing a gift from the heap when your name is called.

MIKE DODD won the visitors trophy last May before signing on as a Lizard.  He picked up a
paying 4th place in September and celebrated his first slam-dunk win last month.  Congratulations Mike.

WAL HILL bounced back from the bottom of last month’s pack to secure 2nd place in a count back from Ian Massey.

IAN MASSEY won the best front nine with a massive 24 points.  Eight birdies and a slot would be an uncomplicated way to equal the feat.

HART SCHWARZ qualified as Bradman for the first time since July ’03.

GERRY MANDERSON and WAL had no trouble with their downers.

DAVE DUNWORTH, ready to catch the golf ball to be lobbed to him for his Best Back Nine, missed out when Glenn Castle’s fickle fingers of fate deflected the flight of the prize into the ¾ full wheely bin and the fruitless foray finished in frustration.

FINES, some were:

Bill Epps, Bill Sheehan        whilst in charge of security in the shed, while Lizards were on the

and Geoff Wade                   course, did allow a bird to shit on the Dobber’s car

Garry Bird LM                       last month was the first Lizards to hit a ball into the new pond –

henceforth the pond will be referred to as the “Bird Bath”

Stretch, Brian Ellis                adding balls to the Bird Bath

and the Dobber

Ivan Tiltins                              did not go to Port Macquarie because his wife would not let him

Wal Hill                                  CREDIT FINE – following his donation of bone marrow to his brother

Curtis, the patient is now free of cancer
