CUSTARD BALL WINNING TEAM

Noel Quinlan, David Gilchrist and Gerry Manderson with 38 points

MICHAEL MORGAN, current Lindenberg Titleholder, has been incubating his light under a bushel for the past 26 months – without winning a single monthly competition – however the razzle dazzle of remembering the members names, while navel deep in trying to balance the books on day one of his Assistant Treasurer’s posting, took his mind off his golf and he won the event with 41 points.  Well played Michael.

BRIAN ELLIS, a member for 18 months, celebrated his first solo win in July – and lost five shots for his effort – then bounced back in August with 40 points!  Congratulations on your sudden claim to fame.

DAVID GILCHRIST, thanks to the donor’s extended prize list, had his 3rd trip to the pay window since Nov. 2000, by scraping in ahead of Captain Neil Winterton, on a count-back.

GERRY MANDERSON and GRANT SCHWARZ finished in a dead-heap, with 37 points apiece.  Grant came out winner in Visitor’s on a count-back.

HART SCHWARZ, former airies test pilot, has gained his wings and celebrated with the longest drive in his division.  Congratulations Hart.

THE CUSTARD BALL WINNING TEAM comprised Noel Quinlan, David Gilchrist and Gerry Manderson!  Congratulations on their good team work – each was awarded a boxed bottle of McWilliams Reserve Port.

DENNIS CASTLE was awarded the Bradman downer and MIKE DODD stood in for Visitor Terry Humes, who had to leave prior to the meeting!

THE LAST of the Awards went to Garry Bird LM – the raffle prize.

FINES, some were:

Dennis Castle, Stretch         slow play – not only were they the last to hit off, they were also the

Hart & Grant Schwarz          last to finish

John O’Meara                       being the first Lizard to play a round with the Dobber without getting      a fine

Vice President                      matching the President by buying a remote-controlled golf buggy

Jim Small                              ‘Credit Fine’, for all his work with our new shirts and jumpers

CATERING: Today’s repast comes from the hands of President Colin Lacey ***

It is 2 years since ex-President Royle Jenkins died.  It was during his presidency in 1974 that the expression “ROYLE AVALON” was coined and carried on by all and sundry to this day as “ROYAL AVALON”.
