WELCOME TO PHILIP BRANDON’S VICE-PRESIDENT’S DAY – The Father and Son Annual Trophy Day and the Grand Final of the Lindenberg Knock-out competition.  News is Philip will be unable to attend today, however our prestidigeous President has the safe transfer of the Donor’s Trophies, from the display table to the sweaty palms of the prize winners, in hand – without the assistance of the VP.

COLIN LACEY has been Assistant Handicapper 4 times and Vice-President twice over the past 5 years, yet never achieving the Presidential jackpot, due to unseasonal demands of his employment, but on this occasion can see his way clear and, to date, is the sole nominee for the 2005/6 Presidency.

GORDON DONALD LM is still with us, on his feet, but not planning any excursions far from home.  Sadly his loving wife Joan is in Greenwich Hospital, terminally ill.  Our hopes and prayers go out to her.

RAFFLE                                            #2 – Andy Warner, Acting Treasurer & Raffle Runner, won.

The bottle of scotch was donated back to the club.

ANDREW WARNER LM, after a hard slog of 5 runners up prizes spread over the past 7 years, bagged his first win at Avalon since December ’98!  Andy won the recent Wal Hill trophy at Mangrove Mountain and decided to strike again while his irons were still hot.

COLIN LACEY notched up his 3rd second place in 5 months and clipped 4 strokes from his handicap in the process.  Col gives the impression he will be persevering with the winter pruning.

MIKE DODD was first past the post in the visitors for the first time.  Congratulations Mike.

CRAZY STATISTICS: Not any of the 6 players with handicaps of 19 or more hit a ball that stayed on the 2nd fairway.  No player with a handicap of 18 or less made the green of the 129m 9th.

JIM SMALL and ROY DONALD have each been Bradman 3 times in the past 12 months.  Both Bradmen had one sip of their downers then proceeded to the fence.

THE ANNUAL FATHER and SON DAY is up fpr grabs toady.  The Castles will be hard to beat, they have a grandfather, 2 fathers, 3 sons and a grandson.  The winning double don’t have to play together, they just have to be present and play on the day.  Jim Small is next in the ratings with a father, son and a grandson.  Last year’s winners were Brian and Nathan Ellis! – so don’t despair – you only have to be in it to have a chance of winning.

THE LINDENBERG long hard grind has reached the brink – the two survivors have climbed the 13 stairs and are faced with a sudden indelible result.

This year has been a unique experience in Lizard history, with interim results less predictable than the Colby and Jackson cases.

By the time the semi finalists were due to hit the press, players of the standing of HARRISON, PAINE, SMALL, MOONEY, GILCHRIST, Colin Lacey and Dennis Castle were in the queue for an early shower!!

Three of the 4 players still standing were unceded 100 to 1 shots, namely Glenn Castle, Wal Hill and Hart Schwarz, all fine examples of the Lizards nurturing of budding golfers and each deserving of our CONGRATULATIONS.

Today we have the final between unwavering Michael Morgan and the apparent giant killer Hart Schwarz.  We wish them both the best of luck.

THE AGM will be conducted in the DY RSL on Tues 5th July 2005.  Meet in the Scores Bar at 6:30pm for 7.  More information at today’s meeting.
