WELCOME TO LIFE MEMBER GARRY BIRD’S PRESIDENT’S DAY – the day that heralds the shutters coming down on another Lizards year.  Garry is only the fifth Lizard in the club’s 59 years, having been President twice, to have his hands filled with the familiar task of preparing a smooth transition to a new President and Committee at the fast-approaching Annual General Meeting.  Garry would have to be our most versatile Lizard – recently he was President, Secretary, Caterer and Acting Chief Dobber.  In his spare time he is printer of Lizard stationary and publisher of the club’s annual booklet.  Here’s to Garry, he’s true blue etc…

LIFE MEMBER GORDON “Postie” – “Sir Donald” DONALD, who has been in and out of hospital in recent time with varying complaints, any one of them capable of grounding an ordinary man, was scuttled with his most recent medical finding – a clot on the brain – with advice to preclude him from his treasurer’s job, attendance at Avalon, the feeding of the chooks and anything else other than being flat out like and staring at the ceiling!  Gordon was back on his feet in a couple of days, feeding the chooks, supervising their free range during the day and tucking them back in their coop for the night.  He has given up his Treasurer’s post and will not be at Avalon today – but is keeping his options open for future Lizard days.  You’re a better man than I am Gunga Din.  Hats off to Postie…

LIFE MEMBER ANDY WARNER has undertaken the roll of Treasurer pro tem – the position to be filled at the AGM in July.

POSTIE DAY, with 22 Lizards and 5 visitors, produced the following results:

GLENN CASTLE – IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT, BAGGAGE MAN, ASST. BAGGAGE MAN, PLANT ENGINEER, CUSTODIAN OF THE HOLE-IN-ONE BILLION and red hot contender in the Lindenberg Competition, burst out of the ashes like Phoenix with a rocket up it’s exhaust system, and put together a blinding 47 pointer – propelling him past the post for his first win in 65 months!

MICHAEL HARRISON played a solid round, returning a score of 3 over the card.

ROY DONALD celebrated his 3rd visitor’s winner’s title in 8 months.

IVAN TILTINS had his first trip to the visitor’s pay window.
