WELCOME to MORGAN - MOONEY DAY Mk VI,
the homecoming of the PORT
and the return
of
DONORS Chris and
Michael were our 49th and 51st presidents and prolific
caterers in the 90’s. Rarely seen on the monthly
winner’s dais, they are invariably in the first bunch past the post and
are well placed in the Championship points score. We
thank them for their donorship today.

PUTTING COMPETITION John O'Meara - 29 putts
JOHN O’MEARA carded a 45
pointer in February and was swamped by outsider Gary Castle –
HART won in June with a
36 pointer, and before that in June ’01. He was listed
on the TAB at 66 to 1, and looked normal as he walked to the 1st
tee – then, from the time he teed up and whacked the ball down the centre,
on its way to a 4 pointer, he resembled a Bernhard Langer clone. Four pointers, 3’s and a 5 pointer just rolled off his
club. He arrived at the half-way-house for a quick
snack and a beer, with a nearest the pin on the 5th and a score
of 28! The second nine was a breeze, a cool 20 points,
including a slot and a nearest the pin within a couple of gum leaves of
a hole-in-one on the 18th.
CONGRATULATIONS HART – you
had more fun in one round that Kostya Tszyu had in three.
Hart and John played as
a pair in a private match vs the hard to beat Jim Small and Andy Warner –
the prize being a No 1 slap up breakfast in Port Macquarie. Hart & John blitzed the favourites 90 to 67.
ROY DONALD racked up his
3rd consecutive visitor’s win. He won’t
be with us today; he is holidaying in
DAVE DUNWORTH was back at
Lizards after a spell – last time we saw him was when he was runner up to
Ken Bond in 1992. After a dismal 7 for the 1st
nine he won the best back nine with 23 points. He
was given a fines tin to keep him out of mischief during the meeting.
BILL SHEEHAN LM will be
upgraded to octogenarian status tomorrow and is currently in the Foster-Tuncurry
area with his family, who have rented a couple of holiday cottages and are
drumming up a corroboree to celebrate the event. We
wish Bill a Happy Birthday.
A SPECIAL WELCOME to our
most travelled member, Dawson Carroll, who has completed his seventeenth
trip to
