WELCOME to WARNER DAY Mk XVI
Life Member Andrew
has drawn a full hand for the proceedings. He will
be donor, caterer, ringmaster – by way of deciding the way the game will be
played – and chief dobber. On this day, 24 years ago,
President Geoff Wotton bestowed membership upon Andrew and Noel Cawley. We wish Andy all the best for his 25th Lizard
year.

IN HOSPITAL Gordon
Donald LM
ANDY WARNER and GARRY BIRD
called into Manly Waters hospital after the game, and reported that Gaudy
looked sprightly and was heading home on Tuesday.
LOW SCORES seemed the order
of the breezy day – the 2 low markers blew in with 35 a piece, with the leading
visitors following suit.
GARRY BIRD LM used the brisk
tail wind to advantage and lobbed on the 375m 8th with his third
shot! He then sank the putt for a 5 pointer!! At the end of his round he returned to the shed, with not
a feather out of place, and startled the stipes with his best front nine,
equal best back nine and an unbeatable 40 points. Congratulations
Garry on your first win for 25 months.
NATHAN ELLIS, reduced 6 strokes
for his 44 off 30 in June – when he made his debut in the Father and Son
event – fought his way back to the pay window, on a countback, with a down
to earth 35 pointer. Well done Nathan.
THE RAFFLE, in the absence
of Postie, who took the raffle tickets to the hospital with him, was decided
by selecting a scorecard from the stack. Colin Lacey
made the draw by selecting his own and promptly donated the bottle of scotch
back to the club.
THE AIRIES CHOIR turned out
to be a solo by Brian Ellis.
FINES, some were:
John O’Meara praising the chief dobber for his much improved
putting – causing him to 4
putt the next green
Garry Bird LM providing us with the second windy day since
becoming President
Gary Castle stating: “I win so much money from my brother
at golf, I will have to put it
in my next tax return”
Colin Lacey once again winning the longest divot competition
Bill Sheehan “credit fine” for walking down to Avalon
shops for another bag of ice
Bill Sheehan costing the Lizards money. If he had walked to Mona Vale he would have
saved 20¢
Tony Della since moving to Moss Vale has been talking
with a foreign accent
Michael Moran and having a battle of wits ending in a scoreless draw
Dennis Castle
