July 2004
WELCOME to EPPS - MEREDITH DAY.
WELCOME to GARRY
BIRD LM, 59th PRESIDENT of the LIZARDS GOLF CLUB. Garry was the instigator and still is the publisher of
the Lizards Annual Booklets. The first edition in
1989 was the most innovative and well received move by the club – since the
decision in 1965, during Bill Sheehan’s presidency, to produce the monthly
Flat Out Like.
Garry after 2 years
as Captain Handicapper was elected President, for the first time, in 1991,
he had a breather in 1992 and in 93 stepped into the position of Secretary,
in place of Neville Meredith who had retired from his employment and moved
to Port Macquarie. He has been Secretary ever since
– as well as 3 stints as Vice Pres. during the same period.
Garry is the 4th
Lizard in the past 58 years to be elevated to the top job twice. Hats off to our hard working life
member.
TODAY is EPPS –

rostered monthly competition and the entrée

VICE-PRESIDENTS
can do anything they want on VP days. V•P Colin Lacey chose to win the day – his first success in
13 months.
BRIAN ELLIS had
his first trip to the pay window since joining the club.
NATHAN ELLIS, conscripted
to the cause to bolster the annual Father and Son event, skittled his fellow visitors with a 25 pointer on
the second nine.
BOB PAINE, the
first professional golfer to play with the Lizards, won the visitors trophy
in April and came second in May and June, with gentlemanly scores of 35,
36 and 30. On this occasion he added a nearest the
pin and long drive.
THE FATHER and
SON ANNUAL TROPHY was won by who ellis but the Ellis – with 80 big ones! The Castles, capable of fielding ½ dozen teams, could
only come up with one – Dennis and Glenn, with 47 points.
Jim and Jake Small fared slightly better with 56.
Congratulations Brian and Nathan.
