WELCOME to DAVE RAYNER (1958 - 1999) MEMORIAL DAY.
It had been SMALL/RAYNER DAY prior to Dave's untimely demise in Jan, 1999.
Jim remained donor and changed it to a memorial day for Dave - The GRIZZ.
It is a day we can toast the irrepressible GRIZZ and remember the good times
- like the day he jagged a hole in one and celebratory mayhem broke loose!
Hats off to Jim and the GRIZZ.
POSTIE DAY, with 20 members and 4 visitors, produced the following results:
LIZARDS 1st Noel Quinlan 39 points off 17 handicap
LIZARDS 2nd Andrew Warner LM 37 points off 22 handicap
VISITORS 1st Philip Brandon 45 points off 36 handicap
VISITORS 2nd Bob Payne 35 points off 6 handicap
BEST SCRATCH Jim Small 24 points.
BEST FRONT NINE Hart Schwarz 20 points off 28 handicap
BEST BACK NINE Manfred Wagner 21 points off 18 handicap
BRADMAN Lizards Garry Castle 26 points off 21 handicap
Visitors David Dunworth 23 points off 25 handicap

9th Matthew Castle
18- 1st Bob Payne
9th Noel Quinlan
LONGEST DRIVES 19+ 2nd Andy Warner LM
18- 2nd Michael Harrison
NOEL QUINLAN has been chalking up one win per year for the past 4 years.
He got on the board earlier this year and put the chalk behind his ear -
suggesting it might be used again before Christmas.
PHILIP BRANDON had no problem mowing down his fellow visitors with his
brand new 36 barreled gattling gun.
JIM SMALL, who had a leave pass for the day from Avalon, to attend to
special duties at the Mangrove Mountain G.C., must have set things straight
at Mangrove early in the piece - then zoomed down to Lizards, scored a wild
card entry into the Lindenberg, won his match and picked up the Best Scratch.
LAST MONTH Postie was given a bit of a write up, but there was no mention
that he was just out of hospital; it was his 82nd birthday and the beginning
of his 40th year as a Lizard!
The 27th LINDENBERG COMPETITION is up and running. First and second
reserves Jim Small and Andy Warner gained entry in place of John Surplice
and Michael Morgan. Both won their match - and opens the door
to Jim winning his 4th title and Andrew his 5th.
THE RAFFLE: Dennis Castle won the bottle of White Heather and second draw
for 3 cans of Bourbon went to Michael Harrison.
A BLAST FROM THE PAST: The 57 pointer off 36, by Sandy Armstrong in 1966,
triggered a full blooded celebration by his fellow Lizards. Sandy
was suffering a malfunction in one eye causing as many airswing as contacts.
Having put up with this all his life, he succumbed to surgery and a lengthy
layoff from his favourite game. On returning to the course he had
ripped around the circuit 15 shots over the card!
TODAY'S LINDENBERG DRAW, nearest the pins, long drives and handicap adjustments
should be in the Late Final Extra overleaf.
NEXT MONTH is PRESIDENTS DAY
