January 2004
HAPPY NEW YEAR
President Glenn Castle wishes the members,
visitors and readers a healthy and prosperous 2004.
WELCOME to MANFRED'S CAPTAIN-HANDICAPPER'S DAY. As Captain he sees
that each competition, regardless of format, is conducted in accordance with
Hoyle; any necessary markers are available and in place on the course; and
provision has been made for sufficient suitable trophies to be on hand.
As Handicapper he records the six and a half thousand stableford points we
score each year, and comes up with the mind boggling amount of precise details
published in the club's annual booklets. Our monthly handicap adjustments
are a byproduct of the overall process. Hats off the Manfred who is
midway through his 4th year of mastery of the formidable task.
NEIL WINTERTON, President 2002/3, is Manfred's able assistant this year.
