SEASONS GREETINGS

The President wishes the members, visitors and ALL our readers in Australia and overseas A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

WELCOME to CHRISTMAS CARROLL DAY and to DAWSON, on his 16th re-entry into the Southern Hemisphere to be donor of the day's prizes as well as being sponsor of the coveted Dawson Carroll Trophy.  Dawson had his own name inscribed on the hallowed hardware in 1993.  Recent winners have been:

1999  Colin Lacey
2000  Frank van Heyningan
2001  Alan Lewis
2002  Jim Small

Good luck to today's field.

Our latest country member, Tony Della, plans to hit the highway from Moss Vale to be a contender for the annual trophy.  He should be able to give us some details of the recent Southern Highlands earthquake, which was felt in French's Forest and Dee Why.

A SPECIAL MENTION of Life Members Andy Warner and Postie, who have been on their feet since 0500, in the early am, in their quest to net sufficient prawns from PYRMONT to supplement our Christmas luncheon.  There was a full tide at 6:00am - so they should bag a good selection.

OUR EVER PRESENT Bill Sheehan LM will not be in attendance.  He is spending Christmas with his son and daughter-in-law at their home on NORFOLK ISLAND.  He will be pleased to see them but was less than happy in the thought that he had to make his first trip in an aircraft.

MORGAN-MOONEY DAY, with 20 members and 2 visitors, produced the following results:

Michael's eagle on the 233m 6th gave the pair an unbeatable kick along of 15 points.

NOEL QUINLAN carded a solid 21 points on both front and back nines to bring him in 2 shots ahead of Neil Winterton, Andrew Warner and Michael Morgan, who stormed past the post, in a dead heap, for second place.  Congratulations Noel, your first win in exactly 12 months.

VISITOR JASON KNIGHT overpowered his one man opposition with 9 shots to spare.

ALLAN PODER collected second prize and a Bradman downer for his 36 pointer.

WAL HILL returned to the course following his recent trip to hospital, where he was the donor for a bone marrow transplant for his brother.  He had a commendable 35 pointer - you are a good man Walter.

FINES, some were:

JASON KNIGHT   getting an early Christmas present courtesy of our handicapper

JOHN O'MEARA   finding Michael Moran's name tag on the course and stating:
                               "I wonder who lost this?"

NEXT MONTH is CAPTAIN/HANDICAPPER'S DAY - bring a visitor or two

Good Golfing……….Bill Epps,  Editor
