WELCOME to COLIN LACEY'S (sic) VICE-PRESIDENT'S DAY.  Col has two strings to his box of Lizards tricks, via his role of Assist. Handicapper - a position inherited from Michael Harrison as far back as five years ago.  Winners and losers are high on his agenda and earlier this year he concluded he was not qualifying for mention at either end of the field - so, with chest out, chin in and ears furled, charged into the fray and in the past four months has recorded 2 wins and a Bradman.  Well done Colin.

TODAY is Father and Son Day; the last opportunity to score championship points; and the Grand Final of the Lindenberg competition.

PRESIDENT'S DAY, with 18 members and 2 visitors, produced the following results:

LIZARDS 1st Colin Lacey 41 points off 21 handicap

COLIN LACEY has joined the ranks of Donors who have won their own trophies - the most famous being Dawson Carroll, when he won the Dawson Carroll Cup, after being written up as having as much chance of winning as Dwight Davis had of winning the Davis Cup.  Colin won by a whisker in a count-back from Manfred.

Visitor MICHAEL MORAN'S first appearance, in black and ink, was his qualification for Bradman in May '02.  Since then he has notched up 3 second placings and last month celebrated his first win.  Congratulations Michael.

Visitor JOHN SURPLICE, on the other hand, exploded upon the scene with a hole-in-one and an unbeatable 48 points.  Since the reduction of his Day One handicap by 40%, in December 2002, he has managed 2 second places and for the past 2 months has rendered a brace of unerring Sir Donald exhibitions.  John is a happy golfer, always smiling and making a good fist of playing off 10.

SEMI-FINALS LINDENBERG COMPETITION RESULTS:

Jim Small def  Dennis Castle   3 & 2
Michael Harrison def   Michael Morgan   4 & 3

JIM SMALL and MICHAEL HARRISON were 2002 semi-finalists.  Michael won his match and Jim was defeated by Neil Winterton,  Neil went on to win the title by defeating Michael on the 18th green.  Jim is a triple winner of the event - 88, 93 and 96!

THE MATCH today between Jim Small and Michael Harrison is one of the club's brightest highlights - we wish the contestants every good fortune.
