WELCOME to TREASURER, LIFE MEMBER, GORDON DONALD'S POSTIE DAY MkI.  An ambiguous fanfare which could suggest that it is Gordon Donald's first donation to Lizards - it is not - his inaugural donation was a tea set, made some 38 years ago, when he came off the waiting list and donned a Lizard badge.  Since then there has been a multiplicity of donations for specific events as well as GD Donor Days.  This is Postie's first POSTIE DAY.  Hats off to Gordon - who gives almost as much time to our comfort and welfare as he does his chooks.

DAVID RAYNER MEMORIAL DAY, with 17 members and 2 visitors, produced the following results:

LIZARDS 1st David Gilchrist 41 points off 17 handicap
LIZARDS 2nd Michael Harrison 38 points off 7 handicap

THE DEBRIEFING MEETING kicked off at 1.17 PM, the Lizard was given a drink, the visitors were welcomed, there were NO Airies, Gordon Donald was wished a happy 81st birthday, Jim Small won the raffle and the fine tin, issued to David Gilchrist was retracted and put to better use.

DAVID GILCHRIST, looking more relaxed of late, fired a round of 5 under his handicap to break the tape for the first time in 15 months.

MICHAEL HARRISON rates plenty of mention in the long drive / nearest the pin categories but is usually looking down the wrong end of the telescope when it comes to monthly trophies.  In 2000, one of his most recent wins, he broke through the barrier with a round of 3 under the card!  The following month he completed the course in par - and came second.

ALLAN and DAMIEN PODER dredged the visitors pool, without fear of reductions to their handicaps.

FINES, some were:

Hart                     bringing a change of clothes in case of rain.

Manfred              in total disregard for our handicapping tradition, did give his opponent in the Lindenberg 1 shot back and took one off himself.

Jim Small             causing our esteemed Chief Dobber extreme discomfort by not bringing the windscreen for his golf cart.

John O'Meara,    credit fines for their Irish heritage - on St. Patrick's Day

The TEA LADY and WAL HILL are of the opinion that Jim Small, Andrew Warner, Michael Morgan and Garry Bird will be hard to beat.

MAY THE FORCE be with all the contestants and the elements pave the way to a pleasant 18 holes of unarmed combat.

WAL HILL, nursing a doctor's opinion that he will not be playing golf till June, may pay us a visit today.  Wal is planning another trip to hospital in June - to be a bone marrow donor for his brother.

NEXT MONTH is PRESIDENT'S DAY.

Good Golfing……….Bill Epps,  Editor
