'A HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO ALL'

Welcome to 2003 with its resolutions and electoral promises. May we reap the benefits due for the effort we put into it.

Today is MANFRED'S CAPTAIN-HANDICAPPER'S DAY; the half-way mark in the Lizard's 57th year; and Tony Della's LAST appearance prior to his move to Moss Vale.

MANFRED walked into the 1999 AGM as retiring President, and walked out as Captain-Handicapper - a position he has mastered and still holds.  Ably assisted by Colin Lacey, they are in their 4th term of office - Hats off to these dedicated Lizards.

JIM SMALL, since defeating John O'Meara in a countback for the D.C. Cup in 1996, has had only 2 Lizard monthly competitions to his credit prior to laying claim to the Dawson Carroll Cup for the second time.  Congratulations Jim - hope you enjoyed the Chivas Regal - and commiserations for the tardy flow of ordinary monthly prizes.

CHRIS MOONEY has been runner up in 3 of the last 4 all-important December matches.  He will need a bonfire to rid himself of the unwanted bridesmaid's accouterments.

DAVE DUNWORTH, unseen for about 10 years, rolled up toting a set of new golf clubs and the desire to reduce his business commitments, in an endeavor to get back in the swing with Lizards.

Fines, some were:

Wal Hill               having his sox on the wrong feet.

Garry Bird LM    wearing his Hawaii "FIVE O" shirt to Lizards.

Jim Small and      swapping "crook knee" stories.
Dawson Carroll

Stretch                listening to Wal Hill's golf tips and becoming Bradman.

Dave Dunworth   slow play - having to peel the plastic off each club before using them, and becoming Bradman without Wal Hill's assistance.

Postie and           credit fine - traveling to the fish markets at 05:30 to get the Lizards Christmas prawns.
Chief Dobber

Hart                    using Michael Harrison's golf shoe as a repository for his prawn heads.
