FLAT OUT LIKE

December 2002

WELCOME back to DAWSON CARROLL, today’s donor and instigator of the coveted Dawson Carroll Trophy. This marks his 15th circumnavigation of the globe to enjoy the day at Avalon.

The current temperature in his hometown is 0 to 4degrees C - that’s not to bad - Moscow, on the same lat of linatude is - 14 to -9 degrees C. Had Dawson been a muscovite he would probably be living here, conducting his business with a laptop.

The DAWSON CARROLL CUP should be on display in the shed and ready to change hands at the conclusion of play.
Winners of the event over the past few years have been
    1999 Colin Lacey    44 points of 32
2000 Frank van Heyninigan    42 points off 23
    2001 Alan Lewis    44 points of 13
Good Luck to today’s field.

AIRIES Garry Bird L.M. and Wal Hill

RAFFLE No C80 Stretch

NOEL QUINLAN, usually well placed in the bunch as they round the home turn, celebrated his first win for 15 months.

CADET JAKE SMALL has been eroding his 59 free shots over the past couple of years. In recent time he has grown 30cm, put on a bit of beef around his chest, and is demolishing his handicap in chunks - at this rate he will be playing in the high 30’s by next winter. Keep up the good work Jake!

WAL HILL, by shaving his hirsute upper lip and investing in a new set of tats, makes Russell Crowe look like part of the sweepings from the Colosseum.

TONY DELIA, having been given a “send-off”, complete with bottle of Scotch and tear-jerker card, signed by all and sundry, plus a departing downer, advised the bereft brethren he was not taking up residence in his new home at 54 Valleta Street, Moss Vale till January, and would be attending the 2002 Christmas Carroll celebrations!

Fines, some were:

Jake                    a non drinker and still managing to spill Lizards beer.

Hart                    when asked what he scored on a hole replied “I had a V for vipe”.

John O’Meara    washing his hands with the ice in the Esky

Stretch and         posing, during the meeting, as African Queens on their thrones, on the back of Stretch’s truck.

NEXT MONTH is CAPTAIN . HANDICAPPERS DAY, a good day to bring a visitor or two.
