December 2001
THE PRESIDENT and Committee wish the Lizards and Visitors a Very Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
WELCOME to DAWSON CARROLL, fresh from the Emerald Isle; Christmas Carroll Day; the Lizards Christmas Luncheon and the opportunity to Bring a Gift and Receive a Gift.
DAWSON’S plane touched down at Mascot while we were flat out like vying for the Morgan Mooney Trophy. With a month of terra australis under his feet, Dawson should have thawed out and be at reasonable odds to win his own prestigious piece of hardware - for the second time.
MORGAN-MOONEY DAY, with 17 members and 2 visitors, produced the following results:
LIZARDS 1st Wal Hill 40 points off 44 handicap
LIZARDS 2nd Michael Morgan 39 points off 20 handicap
VISITORS 1st Garry Castle 46 points off 30 handicap

WALTER strikes again. With 4 Bradman downers under his skin since his last win, he pulled ont 4 pointer, seven threes and a slot out of his hat to make the high dais - one shot ahead of the field. Congratulations Wal.
MICHAEL MORGAN broadsided across the finish line with a brilliant birdie, eagle, birdie finish - one point short of a win on a countback.
VISITOR GARRY CASTLE, with scores in the mid-twenties has been the Bradman twice in the past few months. The slight spray of rain must have popped his cork - releasing a golfing guru. The Captain Handicapper is still picking up the pieces - and has obtained a new cork. Gary had been re-corked in Feb., 1998, after he blew his top and terrorised the visitors with a 43 pointer.
COURTNEY, with a gentlemanly 36 pointer, was awarded the runner-up prize - then confronted with the Bradman downer and a Statue of Liberty hat.
JIM SMALL drove onto the course with an air of refined luxury in his eye-catching golf cart. Bill Epps was the first to set the wheels rolling in Jan 1995, when he introduced his electric buggy which made its own way along the flat and pulled him up the slopes. Jim’s acquisition falls within the category of Big Boys Toys - however, when such a “toy” becomes essential for the future enjoyment of the game, it will deemed a five star asset.
FINES from Port Macquarie, some were:
Chief Dobber
Did clean up an Ibis with his tee shot on the 10th.
