WELCOME to CASTLE HILL PLATE DAY MkIII. Glen and Wal, our dedicated donor duo, are invariably among the first on the scene to assist when the Club hits a rough patch and needs a quick fix - we thank them for their capabilities.
CURRENT HOLDER of the Castle Hill Plate is Michael Harrison, having won last year with 45 points off 6 handicap - a round of 3 under the card! The best result in Lizards history.
DELLA DAY, with 19 members and 7 visitors, produced the following results:
LIZARDS 1st Neil Shackle 39 points off 12 handicap
LIZARDS 2nd Michael Morgan 38 points off 20 handicap
VISITORS 1st Alan Poder 36 points off 37 handicap
VISITORS 2nd Garry Castle 25 points off 29 handicap

NEIL SHACKLE, after 25 months of fruitless club waving, hit pay dirt - with no shots to spare. He had a commanding 43 points in Sep. 2000, but was slam dunked by a 48 pointer and missed out on the consolation prize on a countback.
MICHAEL MORGAN notched up his second 2nd place in 6 months - but would prefer a no frills win - a feat that has eluded him for 15 months. The golf seismograph predicts that Michael could explode to the top of the heap at any time.
CAPTAIN MANFRED came in 3rd on a countback. He and Noel Quinlan are current co-leaders in the annual championship.
IAN SIMPSON is back from a spell and knocking his game into shape - his nearest the pin, long drive and two five pointers is an ominous beginning.
VISITOR ALAN PODER, with 3 mentions in seven months, has posted his first
win. Well played Alan.
FINES, some were:
Tony Della credit fine for providing a multitude of prizes on his donors day
Michael Harrison credit fine for showing the cooking skills he had learned from Bill Sheehan, on the day he could not play, due to temporary lameness.
Hart Schwarz demonstrating a trick shot on the first tee by lodging his ball permanently, in the branches of a nearby tree.
Wal Hill wearing a hat that made him look like a flower pot man.
Jim Small giving a lesson on the 14th green on how to deal with scarified
greens - then 4 putting for a wipe.
PORT MACQUARIE - here we come! The Nifty Plate will be played on Sat. November
3. The tee is booked for 12 noon, with an on-site BBQ to follow the 18 hole
competition. An additional round has been arranged for Sunday morning commencing
at 9.00 a.m. Nifty is counting down the days and is keen to see the 2001
contingent.
