MANFRED, who has been prize-less for 17 months, eventually came good with the highest score we have seen since Harry McGuinness - back from an extended spell - cleaned up with a 50 pointer in July 1998.
THE VISITORS were a handicapper’s delight - their scores were all in the 34 to 37 bracket. Courtney Kingston led the field with 37 points, one shot ahead of John Bavin.
JOHN BAVIN, a constant visitor over the past 3 years is on his way to Victoria. Married 6 months ago, John has been living in Sydney while his wife resides in Melbourne. Following a long and successful job search, he should be unpacking his bags at his new address, while we are sitting around the shed this morning.
FINES, some were:
Courtney Kingston - wearing shorts with a built-in tee and pencil holder.
Manfred Wagner - having scored 48 points, complained of having no luck during
the round.
Michael Morgan - after writing his name on the 3rd hole nearest the pin marker,
did 4 putt for a score of one point, and
- asked whether he missed the excitement of Lizards during his month off,
did state: “I’d rather attend a session of synchronised swimming, rather
than watch the Lizards hit off the first tee”.
John Bavin - social climbing - he requested the pleasure of the Chief Dobber’s
company for the day’s match.
THE NEW LOOK WEBSITE exudes endless promise. Web weaver Chris Mooney, with the aid of a few budding encyclopedists, could start the process of moulding something between Wisden’s and Britannica!
THE QUEST for the NIFTY PLATE has been a highlight on the Lizard calendar since Nev and Barbara Meredith retired to Port Macquarie. Nev joined in 1981 and was a behind the scene assistant Caterer and provider for the whole of his active membership. He took on an unexpected vacancy as Secretary in 1988 “till the next election”. Elected unopposed, he remained the clubs most innovative secretary in 43 years - till his retirement in May 1993. The first safari to Nifty land was conducted in November of the same year. The eighth contingent is packed and ready to go. Final briefing is at today’s meeting.
HOLDERS of the NIFTY PLATE to date:
1993 Anthony Beale
1997 Michael Harrison
1994 Michael Harrison 1998 Andrew
Warner
1995 Michael Harrison 1999 Hart

NEXT MONTH is MORGAN & MOONEY DAY, a good day to bring a visitor or
two.
