FLAT OUT LIKE

August 2000

WELCOME to DELLA DAY Mk. XIV. Tony is the Club's most prolific donor - he instigated prizes for the best scratch score, the front and back nines, long drives and nearest the pins on all par 3's. The Club carried on with these prizes - except the NTP on all 10 par threes. Last year, with 20 members and 4 visitors, no one made the greens on the 3rd, 9th, 13th, 14th and 18th par 3's! With the addition of a few more balls to the leftovers, Tony included them as eight additional raffle prizes. Hats off to our benevolent Cory Pavin lookalike.

EPPS-MEREDITH DAY, with 20 members and 2 visitors, produced the following results:

LIZARDS 1st Michael Morgan 40 points off 19 handicap
LIZARDS 2nd Colin Lacey 38 points off 23 handicap

VISITORS 1st Dennis Castle 32 points off 26 handicap
VISITORS 2nd Garry Castle 19 points off 26 handicap

BEST SCRATCH Michael Harrison 26 points

BEST FRONT NINE Garry Bird 21 points off 25 handicap
BEST BACK NINE Jim Small 21 points off 16 handicap

NEAREST the PINS  1st Chris Mooney
9th Andy Warner

LONGEST DRIVES  19+ 6th Mark Macmillan
18- 6th Neil Shackle

BRADMAN  Members Wal Hill 26 points off 35 handicap
Visitors Garry Castle 19 points off 26 handicap

MICHAEL MORGAN, emerging from hibernation, has notched up 2 wins on the 99/2000 card - prior to that last victory was in March 96!

COL LACEY has been to the pay window 3 times since December with a win and 2 seconds - and reduced his handicap by 10 shots. Keep up the good work Col.

THE LIZARDS had more castles than Disneyland at the game - in a panorama of drawbridges, spires and moats, they finished in the first 5 in members and were winner, runner-up and Bradman in visitors.

FINES, some were

Wal Hill returning the 5th hole NTP markers to the handicapper one month  late.

Tony Della not collecting his NTP prize for the previous month.

Bill Sheehan stating that the Lizards are being fed lunches better than they  deserve.

Chris Mooney losing Club property. The Castle Hill Plate being found in DY Cash Converters by our astute President during the week.

Jim Small hitting his tee shot to within 6ft of the pin on the 5th and four putting for a wipe.

Credit Fine to the esteemed President and Chief Dobber for giving up their chance of winning the day's Sydney to Surf, in order to grace the fairways of Royal Avalon.

PORT MACQUARIE, the original venue for the Nifty Plate, is back on the drawing board. The Emerald Downs Course is in full swing following recent improvements to the layout - the rough is more friendly, the ball swallowing lake on the 5th has been moved and the fairways are lush. Weekend 4-5th of November is the target date for our return to Nifty Land. More information at todays meeting.

NEXT MONTH is WARNER DAY, with the chance of a CUSTARD BALL Event as well as individual play. Bring a visitor or two.
