little e finishes 14 and gets top finish at bristol. in the beginning it didn't seem like jr was going to be able to pull a top 20 finish last night. when the green flag waved he dropped back and as soon as buckshot jones was spun out and a caution was called, little e used that chance to go down pit road and loosen up a little. after that pit stop it was all up hill from there. however during a caution-free section of the race, jeff gordon did what he does best and that's put cars laps down, and yes little e was a part of that group. but he was able to regain his lap. 16 cautions and a whole lot of bumping later, little e crossed that finish line as the second to last car on the lead lap. getting his best winston cup finish at bristol. full results. 8/26/01

dale jr finishes 11th, harvick wins. the race started with hopes that jr would be able to move from starting in 36th position. he moved up quickly then hung out around the top 20's for a while. then he while he was in 19th position, the yellow flag waved and he went in the pits and came out 6th, the first of those that pitted. but it was downhill from there, he had to come in for numerous pitstops and was complaining of engine trouble. but at the end of the day he was still able to bring the #8 to an 11th place finish, and up to 8th in points. full results 7/15/01

little e finishes 20th at pocono. at the start of the pocono 500, dale jr seemed to be in the perfect place to get his first win of the season! he drove past the drivers in front of him and quickly took over 1st place. all seemed to be going well until it was time for pit stops. around half way into the race, the #8 team decide to take an early pit stop on a green, hoping it would help them in the long run. then brett bodine's car breaks down in one of the corners and nascar calls for a caution. putting jr pretty far back. then toward the end of the race jr is the only car to pit early. but again, nascar calls for a caution as he pulls out of the pits, casey atwood had blown an engine. that put little e back a lap. he was able to get it back and hold back jarret and rudd for a while, but eventually lost it and was put back several positons after their last pit stop. fortunatly, jr was able to bring the car back up to the top 20 and didn't move down any in the points standings. race results 6/17/01 practice 1 speeds | line-up | practice 2 speeds |happy hour
