| In the past year, I've had some great experiences which were some of the most fun I've ever had. In the process I've met some great ppl and instantly became friends with them. To start, I attended the Motor City Comic Convention last year, (which is in Detroit, MI) and I finally got a chance to meet many of the ppl on the Ninja Turtle Mailing List that I'm on (NTML). Now this event was awesome! And if you've never been to a comic con, GO TO ONE!!! I tell you, they had everything there! From ppl dressed up as their fav superheros, to many comic stands, to autographs by wonderful comic artists and other celebs! On the NTML, we call this event the TurleCon. It's purpose is it to bring together more listers from the east part of the country. Many feel that in unity, we can "Save the Turtles" by bringing them back on the air, bringing them back in comics, and bringing them back entirely. We want the TMNT to be enjoyed by not just us, but by younger generations as well. |

Some feel that the Turtles don't need to be "brought back"; in other words, they never left, they still exist. Well that's true, they live in us in our own hearts. They live in the drawings, fanfics, and websites we create as well. In popularity though they kinda died off. But whether they're popular or not, doesn't matter to most fans. Cuz the TMNT Fandom is still at large. What DOES matter is that in the process of their popularity dying off, so died the production of the comics, the tv shows, and the movies. And many fans miss all those things. But perhaps the fans persistance in "saving the turtles" paid off after all. There is a new TMNT comic coming out in Fall of 2001! We all can't wait for it! I truely believe that all the TMNT fans' support and interest in the turtles have helped bring back the production of the new comic. But I myself must also congradulate the ppl who put together the TurtleCon. They've all made the TurtleCon possible by putting up their own booth for the fans. Donatello Ivey, the main director behind this "saving the turtles" operation, and her crew has done wonders bringing fans together. Each year, more and more ppl that roam the con seem to be drawn the TMNT booth. I believe that by having a TMNT booth, more ppl see that there are still many fans out there and the ppl themselves start to remember the TMNT they've forgotten. Younger kids of a newer generation will learn of the TMNT and hopefully become fans also. Within time, I'm sure the TMNT will flourish like they once did, but hopefully not like a fad. I know ppl do have their own opinions about this con, and that's ok cuz I respect others' opinions. I just hope ppl won't be mad at me now, heh. But one thing we should all agree on: the TMNT Fandom rules! More info at the United Turtle Fans site. |
| Before there was only one con that listers attended and got together at, The San Diego Comic Convention. It's the biggest con in the nation. It's supposted to have practically everything! And even more celebs, not to mention one of the cocreators of TMNT, Kevin Eastman. I will be attending the San D con very soon and I can't wait! It's my first chance to meet the listers on the west coast, and experience this great con. I plan to dress up this year also. Flyers for the new TMNT comic will be handed out at this con just as they were for this year's Motor City con. With this advertising, hopefully the new TMNT comic will pick up. For more info check http://www.ninjaturtles.com, and click on "Blast from the Past" link to go to Peter Laird's page. There you'll find info about the new comic (actual comic panals) and info about the possibility of a new CGI TMNT movie coming out (actual CGI pictures, tentative though)! There was even a rumor that if the comic does indeed pick up, there could be a new TMNT animated toon. But don't quote me or get too worked up over this cuz these ppl are only in the thinking process and it is still uncertain. We'll havta see about both these possibilies (CGI movie & new cartoon) in the near future! Check here for mone info. |
