Lenna, my wife, and I moved to the Sunshine Coast in April
2002,
from the South Coast of New South Wales. We were foundation members and
instructors
for, the Shoalhaven Country Line Dancers and later, the Nowra
Line Dancers
and most recently the Resort Line Dancers. One of the greatest things
about
Line Dancing is the circle of enduring friendship that is established
with
fellow dancers and teachers met at the hundreds of clubs, outings,
socials
and major events over the years.
In our teaching role we are indebted to many for the assistance and
friendship
imparted to us over the years. To mention just a few of the many from
down
south, to whom we owe a debt of gratitude, are, Tom Glover, Kate Frisk,
Roy
and Frieda Day and Terry Dunbar. Whether it be to find music, dance
sheets,
information as to what is "hot" or just to spend time dancing, these
people
have always been there when needed.
Since moving to the Sunshine Coast we have, apart form teaching the
rudiments
of line dancing to around 85 residents of retirement resorts,
been
fortunate to meet with some of the local clubs. In particular the last
two
Socials, held at the Ettamogah Pub, have provided us with the
opportunity
to get to know many local teachers and club members. Thanks for
attending.
For the past four years we have been teaching at Woombye School Of Arts
hall, under the "Burning Boots" banner, initialy starting a
beginner's class and following that with an intermediate and
advanced class which is still well attended.
It is our desire to continue to promote Line Dancing and extol it's
benefits
for as long as we are able. So if you love music, don't just listen to
it,
dance it.
