21.07.00 - Posh performing at G-A-Y
Victoria, Dane Bowers and True Steppers will be performing at G-A-Y on Saturday, 5 August. As part of the Spice Girls weekend, G-A-Y are exclusively hosts to one of the UK's leading ladies of pop and celebrating the most successful UK girl group in history.

The G-A-Y album features Geri Halliwell's G-A-Y, the Spice Girls' Wannabe and Emma Bunton's What I Am. The Spice Girls performed at G-A-Y in their early days.
21.07.00 - Spices have to pay
A London High Court has ruled that the Spice Girls will only have to repay about $600,000 to Italian scooter manufacturer Aprilia rather than the estimated $1.5 million the company was seeking as a result of a faulty sponsorship deal. The *400,000 ($597,680) ruling covers both damages as well as the company's legal fees, although the Spice Girls have already announced plans to appeal the amount before the Court Of Appeals, according to Reuters.

Thursday's order follows the High Court's original ruling in February that the Spice Girls had misled Aprilia about Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell's decision to leave the girl-power group. Aprilia blamed the split for the failure of a marketing campaign for a "Spice Sonic" scooter that was built around the then five-person group. Geri walked away from the Spice Girls in May 1998, right as the band was on the eve of the North American leg of a world tour in support of its second album, Spiceworld. The outing was sponsored in part by Aprilia.
19.07.00 - Mel C: bitter and twisted
Speaking about events which have taken place in her personal life over the last year, the artist also known as Sporty Spice told the Worldpop website: "I've been very inspired for my new album. It's gonna be very bitter and twisted!"

Mel C says that after all the tabloid stories about her supposed weight gain, her rumoured romantic liaisons and her sexuality, she's relied more and more heavily herself to get through troubled times. She says that the song I Turn To You really is about her because "No matter how much support and love you've got around you there's only one person who can make it better and that's yourself."

Mel C also spoke of her hopes to work with rappers Eminem and Dr Dre on her new album, the follow-up to last year's Northern Star. She insists however that despite having younger fans she wouldn't ask the man also known as Slim Shady to censor his swearing.

"I don't think you can put boundaries on people's creativity," she says. "I know what his music's about and I like it. We'd have to do something that suited both of us."

Meanwhile, Mel has lashed out at the critics who have recently labelled her a butch lesbian - claiming she's really just a "soft girl".

According to British tabloid The Daily Star, the 26-year-old confessed: "At the moment everyone thinks I'm a butch dyke but they don't know me. Really, I'm just a soft girl."

She also slammed the spate of modern Spice Girls copycat bands.

She said: "The pop industry has boomed over the last few years especially with the Spice Girls. There are some great acts around but there's also such a load of rubbish out and it's just all marketing. Coming from the biggest marketed band in the world it probably sounds weird for me to say it. But I fear for the kids and for the kids in bands - sooner or later there are gonna be a lot of pop casualties."
18.07.00 - More Insider Spice #9 info
  • Victoria has done loads of solo songs. Some of them are are about David & Brooklyn. She goes to studio at about 11 or 12 o'clock everyday. She's a lot more confident with her song writing and singing now.
  • Mel B confirmed her first single off the album Hot will be Tell Me which is coming out on 4th September. And her solo website www.melanie-b.com coming out at the end of July.
  • Emma's writing a lots of tracks for her solo album, she has recorded 16 songs already, it's time to stop for a while. She has written tracks about her mum and her friends, also her home, which has been quite therapeutic. She thinks her voice is becoming stringer too. She has done a lots of guitar stuff and there are a few balled in there, but she has tried some R&B stuff and a bit country. It won't be too long before it's finished and released. Also AJ from Backstreet asked her to do some tracks together, but Emma doesn't know if it'll happend.
  • Mel C has started getting back into her training and eating healthily again, to get ready for her tour. She's also doing interval training, which replicates the rhythms of being on stage by taking our heartbeat up and down. She has started traning in the evenings as well, because that's when she'll be up on stage, so she's training her body clock to get ready for the tour!
  • There are 2 poster inside also, the bigger one is the pic of the backstage of Earls Court concert (1 side is Mel B while the other side is other 3 girls). And the smaller one is Mel C's old pic (NBTSA period).
18.07.00 - Victoria on future children
Victoria has talked about her future plans for more children.

Victoria said: "I'm going to have my second child after the solo album, but you never know, the last one kind of cropped up on me. So it could come at any time. David and I have bought a big house and now I want to fill it with loads and loads of children. That's what I want to do in life. Music is important to me but my family is the most important thing. Having a big family and a great big Christmas tree, that's what I want. It doesn't matter if the Spice Girls split in the future because I'm going to be so busy with the kids. I want to have loads hanging off each hip."
18.07.00 - Mel B reveals solo album is Hot
Mel B has told industry magazine Music Week that working on her forthcoming solo album, Hot, has been more pressured than working with fellow band members the Spice Girls.

She said: "It was not like working with the Spice Girls because I knew that it was all down to me, vocally. It was a challenge because I had to be very focused. If there was a high not to be hit for instance, I knew that I'd have to concentrate and get it right, no chance to get one of the other girls to do it."

For her solo album, which hits the shops in October, Mel has recruited quite a collection of American producers to work with her. These include Sisqo, Jam & Lewis and R&B pioneer Teddy Riley.

Mel B said: "It seemed natural for me to work with US producers on the album since they understand my influences."

Mel's collaboration with Teddy Riley got off to a bit of a shaky start.

She explained: "Riley was tough to work with. He had a pretty bad attitude and seemed to have decided that I'd be a popstar Spice wanker before he'd even met me. This made for some pretty uncomfortable times, but luckily the team around him were very professional and we ended up with three great tracks from the sessions."

Mel co-wrote all but one of the tracks on the long-player and this is something she is very proud of.

"Coming up with the songs was intense," the singer revealed. "It's an extremely personal record and writing it has been like therapy. The album is like a documentary of all the things that I've been going through in the last two years."

As it's looking likely that the next Spice Girls' studio album could be their last, the girl band star admits that she still has to prove she can cut the mustard as a solo artist.

She said: "As my first solo album, this record means a lot to me. Everyone will have their opinions and no doubt some people will slag it off. I'm confident in the record and as long as I've got that, who cares what people think."
17.07.00 - Posh n Becks try to ban book
Posh Spice and husband David Beckham are preparing to fight in the High Court to try and ban a revealing new book about them by biographer Andrew Morton, best known for Diana: Her True Story.

According to The Sun, the couple claim that the book's chief source, former bodyguard Mark Niblett, has breached a confidentiality allegedly signed when Niblett took charge their security arrangements. Niblett left the Beckham's employ in May following a series of disagreements.

Posh and Becks won a temporary ban in June on Morton's book, which apparently rejoices in the title At Their Becks And Call.

A two day hearing to extend the ban is due to begin in the High Court on 26 July.
17.07.00 - Mel C & J split?
Jason Brown, boyband Five star and recent boyfriend of Melanie C has dumped Melanie C.

J said: "We've called it a day, but we're still friends. It's just one of those things, but we'll still go out for drinks now and then. It was great just being boyfriend and girlfriend. You can't have a girlfriend you only see eight times a year, it isn't on. I'm a bachelor again now, and I've been enjoying nights out on the town. I've been in Ibiza 37 hours and haven't slept a wink. Me and the boys went to Cream at Amnesia the other night and got wrecked. This girl came up to me and asked me to sign her breasts. She didn't need to ask me twice! It was mad but when you're here you just go with the flow."
17.07.00 - Dance beats pop over two days in Ibiza
Underworld, Geri Halliwell, 5ive and Craig David were among the acts who played at MTV Ibiza 2000 Festival over this weekend. The two-day festival, held in a stone quarry just outside San Antonio, is due to be screened on Mtv next month (August).

Friday saw 10,000 festival-goers turn out for the 'Dance Day', which featured sets from Armand Van Helden, Seb Fontaine, Sonique, and Artful Dodger. Craig David performed three songs by himself before joining Artful Dodger for a rendition of Re-Rewind. Meanwhile, headliners Underworld received the best reception of the weekend when they played Born Slippy.

Saturday's 'Pop Day' was less successful. Only 1,000 people arrived to watch Geri, 5ive and local DJs. Geri appeared in a wedding dress and performed Lift Me Up, Mi Chico Latino, Nancy Sinatra's These Boots Are Made For Walking, debut single Look At Me and Bag It Up. However, she suffered a setback after finishing the first song when her mircrophone failed and a hand-held microphone had to be brought on between each song for her to speak. Many felt disappointed that star attraction Geri had been allowed to mime at such an event.
15.07.00 - Album 3 info
Melanie C says that Spice Girls actually still have two more weeks of studio work on the third album before it's ready to release. She also said that it will be released in November and that the first single HAS NOT been chosen yet, no video has been shot, and it's still up for discussion which one will be the first single.

A seperate rumoristic news report states that Spice Girls will release a single on December 18th, and will have to battle a Westlife single for the Christmas #1 spot.

Finally, mtv.com(US) has posted a story about the possible return of Spice Girls before year's end. MTV(US) also has a poll up gathering information on whether there is interest in the new Spice album. Go there and vote NOW as it could influence the amount of coverage and exposure MTV gives the new Spice album.
14.07.00 - Mel C wins an award!
Mel C has won an award at Brussels' Awards as Northern Star has been sold out more than one Million in Europe. She received the award from Phil Collins & performed live I Turn To You with a lot of applauses...

Picture

Also In Melanie's interview for Entertainment+ (israeli newspaper) Mel said the following:

  • "I would rather people calling me Melanie and not Mel"
  • "I want to change my nick name to 'Active Spice'"
  • "The Spice Girls 3rd album is due to release on September or November, we didn't decide that yet"
  • "Some romours say that our next single will be Let Love Lead The Way. We didn't decide yet what will be the next single. We are still thinking. In our options we've got Women, Let Love Lead The Way, and another single that I can't reveal it's name".
  • "I am not gay!"
  • "I am in a relationship with J for some time now."
  • "I am not affraid of J's female fans who will come after me as they did to Billy Piper's, Richard's friend".
  • "We will start disscussing on a new Spice Girls tour after the album's release".
Sorry about the lack of updates between 14-19 July. I was on holiday that time. I will post the most important stories later!
13.07.00 - The truth behind the rumours
  • Let Love Lead The Way is the new single in Heat Magazine, Melanie C said that it was her preference. She did not confirm it's release or give a date. However shortly after this, a phoney schedule turned up, with this piece of info included. It was this fabrication that included the CD:UK premiere. None of this was ever true; it was invented by an attention seeking fan-site. It has yet to be confirmed what the next single will be.
  • The new single is out in August. This may have been the plan at some stage but no announcement was made and, for one reason or another, nothing was confirmed. This is now highly unlikely due to Melanie C and Victoria releasing singles in successive weeks. It is probably the case that this was a guess made prior to I Turn To You being held back and the announcment of the True Steppers single with Victoria Beckham.
  • The video for Let Love Lead The Way has been shot. A misunderstanding. When Melanie C said 'We've shot the new video', she was talking about I Turn To You, 'We' being what's known in the UK as The Royal 'We'".
  • The Album's called Spice 2000, Third Time Around etc... All tabloid speculation, nothing official. Spice 2000 was based around a comment made by Mel B at Earls Court in Dec. 1999, but the album delay from March to November, therefore Spice 2000 is not so suitable. Third Time Around is a working title, not confirmed yet.
13.07.00 - Mel C's mom talks about J
Mel C's mum is very happy for her and J's romance. She says she's never seen her happier! Melanie also says that if her and J were buddies, she'd love to work with him on her next album, but instead, since he produces, have him produce it, and to quote "save some cash".
12.07.00 - More on wedding anniversary
After the Party In The Park performance on Saturday, Victoria revealed that David gave her a £50,000 anniversary ring over a £30 Chinese food meal. The couple spent their anniversary at a health farm, but got so sick of the food that was served to them there that they decided to sneak out for some Chinese food. While at the restaurant, David surprised Victoria with the £50,000 anniversary ring. After that, Victoria had an invigorating scalp massage as well as the experience of having salt-water blasted at her from various high powered jets to boost blood circulation.
11.07.00 - OOYM promo CD-R
Orlando from Dotmusic discussion board has got a 4 track cd-r promo of True Steppers & Dane Bowers feat. Victoria Beckham - Out Of Your Mind from the Camden record fair.

Tracklisting is as follows:
1. Radio Edit
2. True Steppers Original Mix
3. 10° Below Dub
4. 10° Below Full Vocal Mix

Here's his description:
"The original mix isn't much different from the radio edit - just a bit longer at the start and end. The Dub is full on hardcore garage but they seem to have stripped off a lot of the fx on Vicky's vocal proving just how good she is. The Full Vocal mix is my favourite. Much more mellow and tuneful than the original. It sounds like something the Spices might do as a b-side, again Tor's vocal's are much clearer... I love this version."
11.07.00 - Mel C wants J working on her 2nd album
Melanie C wants her boyfriend J to produce her next solo album.

Speaking on the breakfast television show GMTV this morning (July 11), Mel C was talking about her collaboration with rocker Bryan Adams on the song When you're gone, and asked if she would ever consider working with J.

She replied: "I respect what he does, people don't realise how talented he is. It's like with the Spice Girls, they're all very different musically and he's a very talented guy. If circumstances changed and we were just buddies then I'd probably work with him... (but) because he produces, maybe he'll produce my next record, that'll save a bit of cash, and then he can buy me dinner!"

Also in the interview, Mel talked about the new Spice Girls album, which she revealed was almost complete and would be released in November. The band are expected to finish promotional photos in the next few weeks for the album.

Following the interview, Mel performed her new single, I Turn To You, which is released on August 7 through Virgin. The single will feature remixes by Hex Hector and Stonebridge.

10.07.00 - Geri tries to out do Posh
Just hours before Victoria Beckham took took the stage at London's Party In The Park, Geri was on stage in Italy at the Tor di Valle stadium in Rome. Geri was the finale of the Italian Gay Pride festival. Geri's performance couldn't have been more controversial in the home of the Catholic church.

It's not the first time Geri has tried overshadowing Victoria since she quit the Spice Girls in May 1998. A year ago, Geri put on one of her raunchiest shows ever at that Party In The Park - on the same day Victoria married footballer David. Four months ago she appeared out of the middle of a 50ft pair of inflatable legs at the Brit Awards - one hour before Victoria and the rest of the Spice Girls received their special award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music. Almost certainly coincidences.
10.07.00 - Geri's sexy grope with 'pope'
Geri pokes fun at the Pope - just hours after he dubbed gays an "offence" to the Catholic Church. Geri was the finale of the Italian Gay Pride festival. The ex-Spice Girl cavorted half-naked with a dancer dressed as the Pope in front of the 70,000-strong Gay Pride crowd in the Tor di Valle stadium in Rome, Italy.

Dressed in a white skirt and skimpy white bra-top, Geri pulled a mock priest into her chest as he wrapped his hands around her. During another part of the performance, she wrapped her legs around the dancer and rubbed her crotch up against him.

Pope John Paul had earlier launched a stinging attack on homosexuality, branding it an "offence to Christian values" and "disordered". Gay rights groups hit back.

Franco Guilliani, chairman of Arcigay, said: "The real offence is the anti-gay prejudice which is fuelled by the Vatican hierarchy."

The 'pope' wrapping his hands around Geri. | Geri rubbing her crotch against the 'pope'.
10.07.00 - Mel C working on 2nd album
Mel C started already working on her next album. It was about a year ago when Melanie C started her own solo career with solo single and a debut album, Northern Star. Since then, she release other hits: Goin Down, Never Be The Same Again and I Turn To You. But Mel doesn't wants the world to forget her that quick. After her planned next single, If That Were Me, Melanie wants to continue and become not just a one year happen. On July 1st, Melanie got in the studio, and started writing and recording some new songs. For this stage, Melanie has only recorded two or three songs. The rest will be recorded after the Spice Girls comeback single release, said Rhett Lawrence, the guy who is responsiable for Mel C's great single feat. List Left Eye Lopez, Never Be The Same Again.

"Our plan is to create a pop and dance album this time. The first one was not enough dancy as the papers say. A possiable track that would be on the album is called Left Out", he adds. It is rumoured that the song is about Geri. "Mel already recorded the song, but it is not complete. We still have to record it a few more times until it would be perfect."

Evan Rogers, who made hits for Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Westlife, has signed the deal for producing one song for Mel, that will be a single in Childhood CD, which is due to be out on 2001.

Richard Stannard, who helped the five Spice Girls with their albums, is here to help Melanie C now.

"I was invited to help Mel with her album and I said to myself 'That's gonna be different'." Richard is used to work with pop bands. "Melanie said she trusts me to help her do a great song. She asked me to maybe help her do even 2 songs. And said she wants to have another two duets on this album. We are taking possible choices: A duet with her boyfriend J could be really nice, but it depands on his group. Madonna, who's Mel dying to work with or Robbie Williams who is a friend and Mel admires him.

The album is due to be out in February 14th 2001. Possible name that we consider for the album: Coming Back Home.

Rumours about the above story:
Coming Back Home
Left Out
Invissible
Slap Your Face (And Tell Me If It Hurts)
Mel has a recording date with Madonna.
A song called Sky talks about J.
10.07.00 - LLLTW truly released in August?
Thanks SpicePower: Let Love Lead The Way will be coming out in August. I know for sure now since CD:UK is advertising the new video for July 22nd. They usually put out a video and then the single a short while later.'
10.07.00 - Mel C perform review with pix
Mel C looked to die for gorgeous on PITP. She performed NBTSA, I Turn To You and When You're Gone. She was really excited and sounded great. She had lots of fun with Bryan Adams on When Your Gone. She was wearing her gorgeous I Turn To You extensions, a nice white top and black jeans... She looked MUCH thinner and her performance was without a question the best.

10.07.00 - Posh solo debut success
Posh Spice Victoria Beckham made her solo debut at a huge outdoor charity show in front of 100,000 music fans. Victoria appeared sporting a new hairstyle at the third annual Party In The Park, held in London's Hyde Park to raise funds for the Prince's Trust charity. Her husband, Manchester United star David Beckham, was watching from the front of the stage as his wife became the last of the Spice Girls to branch out with her own pop career. And although he is more used to evading the paparazzi, the soccer idol stood with photographers as he video-ed Victoria's performance.

Victoria was given a rapturous reception as she performed her forthcoming single Out Of Your Mind along with acrobatic dance troupe True Steppers. But fans were left wondering whether the star was really up to it as she mimed the whole performance.

Victoria's last appearance was with the Spice Girls at a series of pre-Christmas concerts.

"I haven't been on-stage for so long, it seems like a year," she said. "But I haven't been lazy, I've been a mummy."

The concert, organised by Capital FM, is the world's biggest annual live music event and is expected to have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds. All proceeds from the one-day festival will go to the Prince's Trust, which was set up in 1976 by Prince Charles, who was at Sunday's event, to help more than 400,000 young people learn new skills and get back into work.

The event featured a string of top pop acts including Sir Elton John, who got off to a rocky start after a technical failure, Steps, Christina Aguilera, Ronan Keating and Billie Piper. Opening act Travis tempted fate once again by performing their hit Why Does It Always Rain On Me?

During the concert Prince Charles took refuge on the stage, where he received a huge roar of appreciation from sodden fans, after relentless rain forced him out of the royal box.

Charles chatted backstage to some of the stars appearing at The Prince's Trust benefit concert, including Posh Spice.

She said: "I was telling him how I was really nervous about performing because this was the first time I've appeared before 100,000 people. He asked me how Brooklyn was getting on and then he asked if David and I had any plans to do a duet. I said 'no way' to that."

09.07.00 - David to see Posh solo debut
Victoria is making her first solo appearance in front of thousands of fans, including her husband, in Hyde Park in London. Organisers of the third annual Party in the Park festival, the world's biggest annual live music event, said Manchester United and England football star David Beckham, would be there to watch his wife perform.

Victoria is fronting the True Steppers song Out Of Your Mind which also features singer Dane Bowers from the band Another Level and is released on August 14.

During the day, the Spice Girl will sit next to the Prince of Wales, President of the Prince's Trust, to watch other artists perform.

The trust, which helps young people to learn new skills, receives all proceeds from the one-day festival.

Grammy-winning pop sensation Christina Aguilera, who is performing her first UK concert, will also get the chance to sit next to the Prince. Later the Prince will meet artists backstage, including the Beckhams, Spice Girl Mel C, Stephen Gately and Ronan Keating of Boyzone, Kylie Minogue, pop divas All Saints and teenage singing sensation Billie Piper. He will also meet a rap group called Xconz which was formed in Huntercombe Prison with the help of the Prince's Trust. The band is the first ever unsigned act to play at Party In The Park.

The 100,000 tickets for the event, organised by 95.8 Capital FM, sold out in less than seven hours and organisers were confident the weather would not dampen spirits.

There was a preview clip of Out Of Your Mind video on CD:UK today. There are loads of dancers with Victoria, who is doing some really cool dance moves, and there's a fake tattoo on Vic's left arm.

07.07.00 - Beckhams LTD
Posh Spice and husband David Beckham will give their seal of approval to a range of luxury goods in a deal set to swell their millions. They have signed a 12-month contract with Northern and Shell, owners of OK! magazine, which paid them pounds 1 million for exclusive pictures of their wedding. The golden couple, whose wealth is already put at pounds 25 million, will give put their names on perfumes, cosmetics and toiletries and an official calendar. A chain of restaurants, shops and film projects look set to follow. Northern and Shell also plans to start a David Beckham soccer school.

The Beckhams have set up their own company VDB - the initials of Victoria, David and their one-year-old son Brooklyn - to manage the venture. And Beckham had a Porsche with the registration R771 VDB when he started dating Posh three years ago.

An insider said: "They're looking to the future when their respective careers may be over. Cynical critics may say they are stupid, but they are two of the most switched-on people you could wish to meet." He added: "Some people in the media may have it in for the Beckhams, but there is huge interest in what they do. They know their strong points and weaknesses, and whatever you say about them there are millions who follow the fashion trends they set."

Victoria already earns around pounds 6 million a year. But Manchester United star Beckham, currently taking home pounds 4 million, is set to make more than his wife for the first time with a pounds 1.5 million a year contract for a website and new sponsorship deals.
07.07.00 - Out Of Your Mind video
There are two exclusive pics of the Out Of Your Mind video in 7/7's Mirror. If you're living in the UK, go buy it NOW!!!

Here's a description, thanks to The Slaer:

"She has long hair which comes past her shoulders (longer than before) in layers. Then she is wearing this blacktop which is just black leather straps covering her chest with flesh being seen! She is also wearing a black leather choker type thing around her neck and black leather trousers. In one picture she is also wearing a black leather jacket and designer sunglasses. The outfit was made by new designer Wale. All I can say is "Oh my God" she looks absolutely gorgeous, she also looks to have put a little weight on, she doesn't look as thin anymore."

Pictures will be coming as soon as I get them!
07.07.00 - Geri to res-coo
Geri Halliwell stunned shoppers by rescuing a pigeon trapped in a window display. The bird swooped into a trendy London jeweller's while Geri was browsing.

A shop spokesman tells: "Geri was supercool. She took off her shoes and climbed into the shop window where the pigeon was flying around in panic. It flew to her and she cuddled it before setting it free outside."
07.07.00 - Emma to sing a song for Geri?
It is rumoured that Emma will release a new song on Christmas called All I Do Is For You. It has lyrics about ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell:

The pop duo have been planning the collaboration for some months in the hope of boosting their solo careers, but are trying to keep the exact details under wraps. He explains: "We have had a chat about it and she agreed to do it. I have to call her again and get it into action."
06.07.00 - Max Beesley's words
He is one of our favourite heart-throbs but Max Beesley insists he is well and truly off the market. The TV star was having none of our sauce when we gave him the full 3am treatment at the London Club Awards. In fact, we just couldn't get him off the subject of his burning passion for Spice Girl Mel B.

"I am so in love with Mel, it actually hurts," said Max in his first public utterance on their hot romance.

And he admitted for the first time that their affair began before Mel had kicked husband Jimmy Gulzar - father of 18-month-old Phoenix Chi - into touch. Naughty Max.

He told us: "Mel's gorgeous - she's so laid back we have such a great time together. We've been going out for eight months now. I'm trying to keep out of anything to do with the divorce but I don't mind admitting I'm totally and absolutely loved up."

Max, 27, was clearly missing Mel at the Hilton Hotel bash as we shared a glass or three of champers and a fine dinner of asparagus, salmon and blueberry tart.

You will remember how the Spice Girl turned to Max when her stormy, 16-month marriage to Dutch dancer Gulzar hit the rocks last year.

They had been pals since meeting in New York three years ago but friendship turned into romance when Max's long-time affair with Mel Sykes collapsed.

He says has no plans to move into Mel's pounds 2.5 million mansion in Little Marlow, Bucks, just yet.

"I divide my time between my brother's house and Mel's," he said as we complimented him on his all-black designer outfit. "She doesn't like it when I'm not there at night because it's a fucking great big house and even though she's got the dogs, she gets scared being there alone with Phoenix. But I've no plans to move in permanently - things are fine as they are. And before you ask, we haven't talked about marriage."

Max, best known as bed-hopping lothario Tom Jones in the BBC drama, has dated a string of beauties including pop star Mica Paris and actress Davinia Murphy. His most serious relationship was with sexy Brit actress Carmen Ejogo who he revealed dumped him after four years to marry trip-hop star Tricky.

Max told us: "I was madly in love but then she asked me to marry her and I said 'no' as I wasn't ready. So she said: 'All right, then - I'm going to marry Tricky'. I was devastated. Now she's getting divorced. I saw her in New York recently and she looked great. I just wish her all the best."

04.07.00 - Spice Girls plan another world tour!
The Spice Girls are planning a world tour off the back of their third album, due in the autumn. Emma told Worldpop the group had originally planned to tour at the end of this year, but plans were scrapped as work on the album stretched.

"Once the album is out we can plan the tour," she confirmed.

"We'd like to start in England and then go around the world and come back," Mel B added. "We missed out on a lot of places the last time we toured so we'd want to go everywhere we haven't been for a while."

Since the Spice Girls' 1998 world tour, Victoria and Mel B have become mothers but the girls insist they won't be leaving their children behind in the UK.

"They would come along with us but we would come back every couple of weeks to rest," Emma predicted. "It would probably be a much longer process than the last one."

The girls added that their upcoming album, rumoured to be called Third Time Around, shows off a more grown up sound and the track Woman even included saucy lyrics about G-strings!

"Yeah, I really love shouting that bit!" Emma giggled. "Woman is really different to most of the things that we've done. I think that naturally we're all growing musically and individually as well," she added.
04.07.00 - Victoria to stay put
Victoria has launched a scathing verbal attack on a nosey neighbour who has apparently been trying to oust the Spice Girl and her family from their Cheshire home. Victoria was speaking to Manchester's radio station, Piccadilly Key 103 about a woman who started a petition to have the family moved from their penthouse in Alderley Edge. The neighbour, Cybil Davis-Brummel, has been pictured in British tabloids protesting on the lawn outside Posh and Beckhams pad, where they live with son Brooklyn.

Posh complained: "I don't know who she is. Some posh bird with a blooming deck chair. Brooklyn and David have played football on that grass I think once since we've been living here. I mean Brooklyn's only 14 months old for goodness sake."

Victoria also talked about the security issues surrounding the couple: "We do get a lot of death threats. It does upset me because obviously we've got a baby and I don't want to die."

But despite the safety worries and unfriendly neighbours, Victoria is determined to stay put.

She explained: "We are both really happy in Manchester and David has no intentions of moving for a long, long, long time. So the rumours are not true and you can all stop throwing things at me in the street now."

04.07.00 - David buys ring for Victoria
David is splashing out £50,000 on an anniversary present for Victoria. David secretly consulted Victoria's favourite jeweller Theo Fannel and told him to create a black diamond ring to match the £30,000 earrings he bought Victoria for her 26th birthday. Pals say he plans to slip it on to Victoria's finger during an intimate dinner to celebrate the couple's first wedding anniversary tonight.

A close friend said: "Victoria will flip out when she sees what David bought her. He knows exactly what she likes and, just like her, he has a great taste when it comes to presents. He knows she's been under a lot of pressure lately and just wants to see her face light up again."

03.07.00 - Posh Spice gags bodyguard
Victoria and David have won a short-stay of execution against a tell-all book written by their former bodyguard. The couple were granted a temporary injuction by a High Court judge on Friday, preventing Mark Niblett spilling the beans on his time with the celebrity couple.

Niblett, who parted company with the Beckhams in May, was reported to link-up with celebrity biographer Andrew Morton, who exposed the purgatory of Princess Diana in a blockbusting book. However, both Niblett and Morton have been told not to speak to or provide information to each other, with Morton also agreeing not to publish any details. Niblett is said to have broken a confidentiality agreement, signed when he began working for the Beckhams.

The Beckhams will seek an extended injunction to protect their privacy in three weeks time.
02.07.00 - Mel C pays tribute to charity walkers
Mel C was on hand to welcome a man who has walked 235 miles to raise money for a cancer centre in memory of Linda McCarthey. Dave Williams, 59, who had bower cancer, has been on the road since June 18 making his way from the Cavern Club in Liverpool to London's Abbey Road Studio's, where the Beatles used to record.

Mel C congratulated Dave, from John Lennon Drive in Liverpool and fellow walkers Julie Bond, 40, from Crosby, Liverpool, who is an appeal director for the centre, Ian Gibbons, 40, from Tamworth, Birmingham and Lois Douglas, 40, from Crosby, Liverpool.

Mel, who lives in Liverpool, greeted them and said it was vitally important to open the centre as soon as possible in order to help cancer sufferers throughout the country.

They hope to raise £100,000 from the walk that will be used towards a new centre of excellence for treatment of cancer soon to be opened on Merseyside - the Linda McCarthey centre.

Linda, wife of ex-beatle Sir Paul McCarthey, lost her battle for cancer in April 1998.

01.07.00 - Geri's bad breath
Mel C caused a stink yesterday by revealing that Geri Halliwell has bad breath. She told how she and the rest of the girls fretted on how to break the rotten news to Ginger Spice. They got round the problem, by offering everyone a stick of minty chewing gum.

Melanie made her revelations during an interview for the Hairy Pie Club slot on Atlantic 252's breakfast show, telling host Tony Wrighton: "I would normally tell people if they had a smelly breath, especially if I were close enough. Whenever that occasion arose with one of the members who used to be in the band, we used to say 'does anyone want some chewie?'"

Tony spluttered: "Geri Halliwell has bad breath!" and a flustered Mel asked him to move quickly on.

And she tried to lessen the impact by adding: "We have all been there sometimes, like when we had a bit of garlic the night before."

Afterwards Tony said: "It was pretty early so I'm glad Mel C didn't got too close to my breath."

Mel C's comments are likely to reignite her simmering fued with Geri which has gone on since she walked out of the Spice Girls. Sporty branded her former bandmate as "just cotton wool", while earlier this year, she said: "Geri can't sing and she can't dance either." But it was thought the pair had patched things up after meeting for a girly chat before a concert in Manchester.

01.07.00 - Bye?
The saga of the third Spice Girls album continues - but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Fortunately, it looks like it's the white sort usually accompanied by waving dead relatives. Because one of the 16 tracks the girls have to choose from is simply called Bye. And music insiders who've been forced to listen to the thing say it isn't much of a track at all. In fact it's a seven-minute conversation between the band in which they reminisce about all the memories they have of being in the Spice Girls. No idea whether "D'you remember when we got booed off the stage in Spain?" or "D'you remember when Geri couldn't take us anymore?" will be featuring.
01.07.00 - Mel C wannabe Madonna
Mel C looks like Madonna in her new video.

She told Radio 1 it's the biggest praise anyone could give her: "I don't know what Madonna think of that, but it's a huge compliment. Any comparison to Madonna is great!"

Mel explains: "I'm excited about the new video and single, it wasn't that much of conscious thing to have a different image. That's the media give us these image and we're just people who with a different hairdo."
