12th May 2002 Autobianchi Meeting (Desio, Italy)
OK, I know it's a bit of a long way do go for those people living in the U.K. (I'm lucky as I live 20mins away!) but this
should be a good day - Desio is the town where the factory is were all Autobianchis were made - that means all your
A112s too! The factory hasn't been used for years and I understand that it will be pulled down soon, so this is a
last chance to see the A112s birth place.
The A112 Club of Italy will be there and I'm expecting a good turnout of normal and racing A112s. I shall be taking
pictures and writing up a report soon after. If by some chance anyone is going, please get in contact and we can meet up.
14th April 2002 Lydden Sprint
Yes we are starting the racing season with another Sprint at Lydden Race Circuit nr Dover Kent. This time it's on a
Sunday and due to local noise restrictions, the practise doesn't start until 12:30. This means that we get a whole
couple of hours extra in bed! Usually we are up at 5:30am and pretty knackered after a long day.
As usual - it'd be great to see some other A112's or anybody who'd like to come down to spectate and have a chat.
27th October 2001 Lydden Sprint
We are taking part in out last sprint of the year at Lydden Race Circuit nr Dover Kent. As you can tell we like this
circuit a lot - for me it is a great track to learn, the straights are not too long for our little car and has a good
mixture of corners. Also the childhood memories of rallycross on a Bank Holiday monday and Saturday afternoon grandstand
help!
Assuming there are no major problems getting me by plane from Italy to London, I'll be there - Mark will be anyway. Come
on down and have a look if you like - there are cars of all types and maybe you can get some enthusiasm to have a go
next year!!
7th October 2001 Brooklands
The Autumn Italian Car Day was held at Brooklands racing circuit (south west London). We have been to this event
over the last few years and there are usually a very large and impresive selection of most Italian cars as well as
stalls selling spares, regalia, etc. Sometimes there is a make-shift circuit on the airport runway to let yourselves
lose on and sometimes the test-hill can be driven up.
Mark took our A112 on a cold and wet day to find a fairly good turnout of Italian cars accumulated around the large
area which makes up the Brooklands complex. He was waved into the main display area, so at least the car was
recognised for what it is by someone!
Lez Parker also turned up in his A112 and a few other people had a chat and were interested. Mark then got to blast
up the infamous test hill.
I'll add more info when it becomes available...
